National Sales Manager

- Newly created leadership opportunity – join at a pivotal time for the business and have a real impact on results, team engagement and growth.
- Contribute to a growing business that has established a warm, collegial and high-performing culture.
- Full time, permanent position. Melbourne headquarters, Monday to Friday.
OUR CLIENTS BUSINESS
Our client is a well-established, family-owned financial institution with 80 years of history and a genuinely compelling purpose — giving hope to borrowers who've been turned away by the major banks. Through a flexible, human-centred approach to financial assessment, they've helped countless families secure their future and a place to call home — financing over 30,000 dwellings and counting.
This isn't a corporate machine. It's a tight-knit team of seasoned banking and finance professionals who bring deep expertise and a shared belief that everyone deserves a fair shot at homeownership. The culture reflects the values of the family that built it, grounded, purposeful, and genuinely invested in the outcomes of the people they serve.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a rare opportunity to take the reins of a national sales function within a purpose-driven lending business that has been changing lives for 80 years.
Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Executive General Manager – Sales and Distribution, the National Sales Manager is the driving force behind sustainable growth through the broker channel. This is a genuine leadership role that blends strategic vision with hands-on execution, and commercial ambition with disciplined, values-led delivery.
What you'll own:
- Leadership, coaching and development of a nationally distributed BDM and BD Associate team – build a culture of collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement. Lead a team of 12 with the assistance of a team leader that will focus on mentoring and coaching the Business Development Associates within the department.
- Sales execution and performance management – implement national sales initiatives and campaigns, drive sales execution (pipeline management, activity planning and broker segmentation), monitor performance metrics and ensure consistent adoption of sales tools/CRM.
- Broker engagement and relationship management – oversee broker engagement strategies to deepen relationships and increase sales results. Support the sales team in maintaining high-value and high-potential broker groups. Represent the organisation at broker events, PD days and industry functions.
- Aggregator and strategic partner support – partner with the EGM to execute aggregator strategies, joint business plans and national initiatives.
- Operational excellence & governance – ensure the team activity complies with regulatory, credit and organisational policies. Resolve issues and improve the broker experience.
- Cross-functional alignment with Credit, Operations, Risk and Marketing to ensure seamless end-to-end delivery
- Champion the voice of the broker internally to drive continuous improvement.
- Inform product development, weigh in on pricing discussions and brainstorm service enhancements in collaboration with leadership and internal teams.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. The ideal candidate will be as comfortable at an industry forum representing the brand as they are in the detail of pipeline conversion metrics, credit policy, and broker education.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You're a seasoned sales leader from the mortgage or specialist lending world — someone who knows how to build the relationships and culture that drive lasting, high-quality results. Specifically, you'll bring:
Experience & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading a national or multi-state BDM or sales team within broker-distributed lending
- Senior background in a non-bank or specialist mortgage lending environment
- You bring a black book of network contacts that will help build new relationships with brokers and aggregators
- Proven accountability for national sales budgets, forecasting, reporting and performance management
- Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Finance, Business, Commerce or a related discipline
Technical Knowledge
- Deep understanding of residential mortgage lending — prime, specialist and non-conforming structures
- Strong grasp of aggregator and broker network operating models, commercial drivers and governance expectations
- Commercial acumen to interpret sales data, portfolio trends and performance metrics
- Proficiency in CRM systems, sales reporting tools and Microsoft Office
Leadership & Behaviours
- A natural leader who sets clear expectations, coaches for performance and builds cultures of accountability
- Highly effective communicator — equally confident with broker principals, aggregators and executive stakeholders
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to influence and align senior internal and external stakeholders
- A strategic thinker who can also execute — comfortable in the detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
