Scope/Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to ensure the timely and accurate handling of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging to support uninterrupted production operations. This role is essential to maintaining production flow and preventing material shortages.
This role receives and verifies incoming materials, stages and delivers supplies to production lines, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures proper storage, labeling, and organization. The Material Handler supports cycle counts and complies with safety, GMP, and quality standards while coordinating with Warehouse, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams at Bakerly.
This position ensures materials are available when needed to support efficient production while upholding Bakerly’s core values of honesty, reliability, collaboration, positivity, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
· Verification and documentation of goods received and shipped
· Correct usage of materials (oldest lot first)
· Apply and log batch numbers & lot codes for traceability of goods consumed
· Ensure proper storage and FIFO
· Shipping operations include loading of trailers with palletized finished material picked from freezer warehouse high racks with reach truck, in addition to loading trailers with food and production waste
· Receiving operations include unloading trailers containing raw ingredients for a bakery and packaging materials
· Provisioning Production Team with raw materials including ingredients for bakery and packaging for finished goods and pallet or other supplies, via forklift, pallet jack or manually
· Special operations including assistance with palletizing will take place periodically
· Comply with OSHA regulations in performance of work duties
· Proper PPE and attire at all times when on the floor
· Adhere to GMP’s to and from the production floor and uphold SQF standards
· Report ALL quality and safety concerns to supervisor or manager, not limited to but including; unknown visitors, pest control, expiration or production quality in question, sanitation, etc.
· Follow all Food Safety, Regulatory (FDA, Non-GE, etc.), and quality (GMP) requirements given by department supervisor and QA department
In addition to the specific duties outlined, you may be required to perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by your manager. These tasks will be relevant to your role and within the scope of your area of expertise.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Education:
· High school diploma/GED required
Experience:
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inventory management
Skills:
· Strong attention to detail
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· On-job-training
· Good organizational skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
· Ability to respond to continually changing priorities
· Interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
· Role requires working in a refrigerated environment for extended periods. Candidates should be physically capable of standing and performing tasks in cold temperatures and willing to wear provided protective gear.
Preferred Qualifications
· Current and valid Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) forklift operation certification strongly preferred

· Ability to stand in place for extended periods of time
· Ability to walk, sit, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop for extended periods
· Able to ascend and descend from stairs and or ladders
· Lift/Carry/Move heavy objects-(up to 50 lbs.)
· Use hands to handle, control or feel objects
· Seeing (vision-distance) details of objects
· Ability to read/comprehend safety signage and warning signs
· Ability to hear sounds for different recognition
· Make quick precise adjustments (machinery)
· Ability to use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble
· React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet
· Ability to wear and remove personal protective equipment required and defined by task,
· Ability to work with chemicals
· Ability to wear required good manufacturing process equipment (Clean provided uniform, hair restraints, beard covers, nitrile gloves, designated plant safety footwear
· Ability to remove required good manufacturing process equipment upon exiting plant floor.
· Perform appropriate hand sanitation requirements.
