The Accessories Shop Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accessories Department. This position is accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating departmental activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer delivery commitments, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. The supervisor will work closely with other departments to minimize delays, improve workflow, and achieve production objectives.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring active participation in the inspection, repair, overhaul, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of components as needed to support production demands. The Accessories Shop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring personnel are properly trained and qualified, that work is performed in accordance with approved technical data and company procedures, and that all required maintenance records and documentation are accurately completed.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accessories department.
· Train, develop, and supervise technicians in proper work procedures and practices.
· Plan, track, and manage all units within the department to ensure timely movement through each process, verify that all required processes are completed, and confirm that necessary materials are ordered to meet required delivery date.
· Assist accessory shop technicians with the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, modification, assembly, and functional testing of components.
· Troubleshoot component issues and ensure corrective actions are carried out to meet OEM and customer specifications.
· Work with precision measurement instruments and other special tooling.
· Inspect, repair, assemble, test, and troubleshoot components as needed to support production demands.
· Reconcile and review units after inspection for quoting.
· Ensure all work being performed by Technicians is in accordance with OEM instructions, company policies, and FAA guidelines.
· Ensure proper handling and preservation of all units and parts during removal, storage, installation, and repair process.
· Analyze and review department processes and workflow to find possible improvements to optimize and improve turnaround time.
· Develop capabilities for new components to be processed (Identify required tooling and equipment, train technicians, etc.)
· Collaborate with managers and supervisors of all other departments to identify and resolve any concerns that may affect the production process.
· Ensure the shop’s equipment and tools are maintained in good order.
· Relay daily duties and information down to the department leads and/or technicians.
· Set expectations and goals for the Accessory Dept. and ensure they’re being met.
· Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives to determine department performance relative to stated goals and objectives.
· Responsible for the training of all the Accessory Shop Technicians and establishing their levels as per the LGT level rating system.
· Cultivate and instill a culture of Quality, Safety, and Excellence in your Team.
· Provide input and recommendations for manpower, review employee performance, address escalated issues, generate assignments, Scheduling, and management of work in your assigned departments.
· Provide leadership for Accessory Shop Technicians in day-to-day activities.
· Provide updates on work progress and relay maintenance information to management.
· Notify the Production Manager and all other appropriate Managers/Supervisors, of any condition that would compromise the airworthiness of a Landing Gear.
· Manage and approve all overtime related to your assigned departments and ensure overtime is kept within acceptable levels.
· Review and meet production KPI’s with Production Manager.
· Ensure direct reports follow all safety and company policies and rules.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
· Knowledge of FAA part 145 repair station regulations.
· Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures.
· Ability to plan and schedule work requirements and to direct skilled technicians in the daily performance of their duties.
· Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
· Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to supervise a team.
· Competent in the use of a computer, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Quantum Control and Excel.
Experience & Education:
· High school education or equivalent. An associate degree is preferred.
· Extensive background in the field of landing gear maintenance with a minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
· Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. and on occasion heavier items.
· Ability to stand for several hours, ability to climb ladders, ability to wear a respirator.
Travel:
· May require traveling to and working off station in support of maintenance recovery or deployed operations as required.
