Principal Application Engineer – Ethernet Products

Job Description
The Automotive Ethernet Segment is part of the Product Line (PL) In Vehicle Networking (IVN) and is one of the fastest growing segments within NXP. The applications team provides technical support to our direct customers in Automotive and increasingly Industrial. Works closely with the local China field application team, maintain close relation with our R&D experts. We team up with sales and marketing department to serve customers in common lab activities, worldwide. We are well recognized within the Automotive market as experts and belong to the cross-industry community that introduces novelties in car communication networks. The location of this vacancy is Shanghai, China.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for customer application support activities and system solutions for Automotive Ethernet switch, Ethernet PHY, especially on the software side, customer program, including on-site customer support
- Profound software competence to create, update Ethernet communication devices to customer configuration need, firmware code. Experience in coding by usage of AI is appreciated.
- Leading customer enablement / configuration tool development what means update for generic switch functions and customized application.
- Create customer facing technical documents such as application notes, white papers, FAQ’s, product training, etc.
- Responsible for initiation and leading the development of reference designs and product or system solution demonstrators in cooperation with other application teams within NXP, and external 3rd parties.
- Perform trainings and workshops with automotive manufacturers and their electronic subsystem suppliers in China.
- Contribute to China local team leadership activities through customer POC and design-in project, conferences, trade fairs, articles, etc.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of experience of hardware and embedded software development using automotive semiconductors & electronics
- Deep knowledge of microcontrollers, preferably S32
- Hands-on experience with embedded microcontrollers
- Profound software knowledge and working with microcontrollers, C/C++, Low Level Drivers, Real Time Operating System, Linux, Python
- Knowledge of Ethernet network implementations, Ethernet switches and physical layer products
- First experience in implementing time synchronization and other TSN protocols in an Ethernet network.
- Experience with new high bandwidth communication technology, use case and hardware / software system setup, i.e. Ethernet-based optical fiber solution, Passive Optical Network, Software Defined Network, PCIe communication, …
- Knowledge of the automotive market and applications.
- Experience in dealing with customers.
- Proven problem solving and debug capabilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly, paying attention to details, and the unique needs of different audiences.
- Talent to build strong relationships both to internal and external customers.
- Master or PHD degree in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, or similar.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, cross-cultural working attitude.
- Independent working style, fast learner, creative and open for new ideas.
- Fluent in English.
