The Organization

The California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI) is a statewide movement aimed at transforming the systems that shape the health of communities through a collective action approach called Accountable Communities for Health (ACH). ACHs are locally governed civic groups of residents and system partners (hospitals, public health, schools, public safety agencies, parks, businesses) working together to improve community conditions, address social needs, promote effective care, and ultimately transform systems to improve health outcomes and achieve health equity.

CACHI recently released its three-year Strategic Roadmap, which provides a vision and a set of goals for the organization's next chapter.

  • CACHI’s Vision: Every community has the infrastructure and power to shape policies and systems through their lived experience, leadership, and wisdom.
  • CACHI’s Mission: CACHI leads a powerful movement to transform health systems through community-driven, multisector partnerships rooted in the ACH model. By uplifting local leadership and centering the voices of those most impacted by inequities, we spark lasting change - investing in bold, collaborative solutions that address root causes and build a just future for all Californians.
  • Core Values:

-Shared stewardship: Trust-based, cross-sector partnerships that uphold accountability to communities

-Community-anchored systems: sustainable strategies rooted in local voice and shared power

-Lived expertise: centering those most affected by inequities as co-designers and decision-makers

-Storytelling as strategy: Using narrative, reflection, and data to foster learning and inspire systems change

With the support of public and private partnerships, CACHI currently supports 36 ACHs in 27 counties across California. Over the next several years, CACHI will also be working with the ACHs in building and activating the ACH Network to advance statewide initiatives and policies. This position presents an exciting opportunity to advance CACHI’s vision and drive transformational systems change throughout the state.
