About the Role

Your Responsibilities

The opportunity:
 
The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation within the academic community. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping and delivering innovative programmes in Sustainable Operations, Green Logistics, and Supply Chain Analytics, with a focus on integrating circular economy principles, decarbonization strategies, and smart logistics technologies into the curriculum. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with an international student body, collaborate with industry and research partners, and influence the evolution of sustainability-centric supply chain education in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
 
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
 
  • Module responsibility and teaching of Gisma’s Bachelor and Master programmes, particularly in the fields of Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Green Logistics, Global Operations Strategy, Supply Chain Analytics, and circular economy methodologies, as well as examination, assessments, and student supervision.
  • Active participation in programme development, quality assurance, and the integration of relevant applied tools and methodologies into the curriculum.
  • Design and continuous update of contemporary teaching and learning materials aligned with advancements in the sector.
  • Initiate, expand, and maintain cooperation with partners in industry and research organisations, particularly in logistics hubs, sustainable manufacturing industries, green supply chain consultancies, and global trade organisations.
  • Participation in national and international accreditation procedures, as required.
  • Active engagement in academic administration and committee work.
  • Further development of a personal and institutional research profile in Sustainable Operations, Green Logistics Performance, Circular Economy Frameworks, or Decarbonized Supply Networks, publication of results in high-quality journals, and engagement in public dissemination.
  • Support outreach activities, including student recruitment events and promotion of related business study pathways.

Your profile

For an appointment, you must fulfil all requirements according to Section 41 ff of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). See the following link: §41 ff. BbgHG.
In addition, you demonstrate:
  • Completed university studies in a relevant discipline such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics Engineering, Operations Research, Business Administration with an operations focus, or Sustainability Management.
  • Proof of extraordinary qualification for scientific work in the form of an outstanding doctorate and/or a strong record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • A minimum of three years of qualified professional experience, including at least two years outside a university environment, gained after a master's degree or equivalent.
  • Proven university-level teaching experience, with competence in blended, online, and interactive learning methodologies. Student evaluations should reflect excellent pedagogical aptitude.
  • A strong affinity for cutting-edge methodologies, software, and tools, specifically related to sustainable logistics planning tools, green supply chain optimization software, and carbon footprint accounting systems.
  • Fluency in English for teaching and research purposes; international academic or industry experience is highly valued.
  • A publication record in fields matching the professorship scope or relevant digital ecosystems.
  • Experience in developing and leading research projects, ideally with success in acquiring third-party funding.
  • Innovative perspectives for advancing research and curriculum in the specified professorship domain.
  • Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.
