About the Role

ROLE INFORMATION

Title: HVAC System Engineer

Location in Montereau (near Fontainebleau south of Paris)

Reporting directly to ___Europe HVAC System Engineering Senior Manager

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The HVAC System Engineer endorses underground cable system studies and projects engineering (Electrical, thermal, logistic, thermo-mechanical, installation, testing, etc...), from tendering phase to commissioning of the projects, even after sales aspects such as maintenance. It includes completing cable system designs compliant with customers’ requirements. HVAC System engineer must consider the various specificities and constraints of each project promoting reliability and competitiveness.

Activities involve without being exhaustive, issuance of technical deliverables to customers, and inputs/specifications for internal or external stakeholders such as subcontractors (cable pulling, civil work, transport…).

This job implies active interfaces with different entities of Prysmian Group such as Sales, Project Management, Logistics, R&D, Supply Chain internally, and with customers and subcontractors externally.

KEY CHALLENGES

  • Prepare and issue technical offers: bill of materials of studied HVAC cable link, detailed costings of all products and services,
  • Once a project is awarded to Prysmian, issue contractual deliverables within the negotiated time frame,
  • Drive meetings with Customers’ representatives to ensure compliance with requirements and Customer’s satisfaction,
  • Prepare technical specifications for internal entities or sub-contractors,
  • Manage the design of specific installation components,
  • Perform technical presentations to Customers,
  • Always bear in mind environmental impacts and safety risks to design the HV systems,
  • Look for the best balance between cost benefits and the whole set of technical requirements of the customers including QHSE aspects,
  • Carry out the necessary calculations and studies in the Thermal, Electromagnetic and Mechanical areas,
  • Challenge the current calculation procedures and computing methods to implement most suitable practices complying with technical quality standards and procedures,
  • Support “HV Sales” department anytime technical clarifications are required by customer,
  • Market covering is Europe with a strong focus on German HVAC market.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Fluent in English and _German,
  • Master’s degree in engineering (Electrotechnics and/or Energy/Grid oriented is preferred),
  • First engineering role in Energy/Grid activities is a plus,
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as negotiating, problem solving and knowledge sharing,
  • Team spirit is a must to work with his peers at European level,
  • Capable of handling multitasks and sorting priorities,
  • Reactivity and flexibility are appreciated to work on projects with customers,
  • Ability to handle computation and problem-solving skills, MathCad is a plus,
  • Knowledge in Electromagnetic, Thermal, Mechanical: design, calculation methods and computing (e.g. Finite Elements Modelling),
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling is a plus.
