Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of accurate, timely and well-controlled operational tax compliance across the Group. The role focuses on execution of standardised processes covering indirect taxes (VAT/GST/ST/JCT), withholding tax (WHT), and Malaysian stamp duty (SD), leveraging Oracle-based data and working in coordination with Group Tax and external advisors to ensure high-quality, compliant tax reporting and filings.
Organisation Context: The role sits within the Group Tax function and supports the operational tax compliance requirements of central entities and selected LBUs. The role works closely with Finance Operations teams, utilises Oracle financial data, and supports outsourced compliance processes (e.g. PwC review and filing), with responsibilities spanning data preparation, reconciliation, and process execution within a controlled tax governance framework.
Key Accountabilities
- Indirect Tax Compliance
- Prepare monthly indirect tax reports from Oracle Financial Tax Register to summarise output tax liabilities and input tax recovery (& non recovery) positions.
- Extract and reconcile AR/AP transactional data for inclusion in return filings.
- Ensure correct application of indirect tax codes on transactions in line with Group Tax guidance.
- Support preparation of indirect tax returns for central entities across multiple jurisdictions (eg, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom).
- Liaise with outsourced tax providers (PwC) on data submission, respond to exception queries arising from tax data analytical tool, and follow up with procurement team to action any necessary updates to master supplier data/details.
- Support consolidation of data into country-specific return formats for submission.
- Support Tax Director with responses to ad-hoc queries from various Tax Authorities concerning prior indirect tax return submissions.
- Withholding Tax (WHT) Compliance:
- Support identification and tracking of payments subject to WHT across Singapore and Malaysia entities.
- Prepare required documentation (e.g. invoices, remittance advice, supporting schedules) for WHT filings.
- Monitor WHT due dates and ensure timely submission and payment.
- Assist in reconciliation of WHT balances and tracking of tax payments.
- Coordinate with Finance teams and Group Tax on classification of payments subject to WHT.
- Stamp Duty (Malaysia) Compliance
- Assist in identification of instruments subject to stamp duty under Malaysian regulations.
- Prepare SD returns and supporting documentation (including legal agreements).
- Track submission deadlines (e.g. 30 days from signing) and payment timelines.
- Maintain records of SD filings and supporting documents for audit and compliance purposes.
- Data Management & Reconciliations
- Extract, process, and reconcile tax-relevant data from Oracle and Coupa systems.
- Perform variance analysis on indirect tax balances and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure consistent application of standard templates and workflows.
- Maintain structured, audit-ready working papers and supporting documentation.
- Stakeholder & Process Coordination
- Coordinate with Finance Operations teams on tax coding and transactional data accuracy.
- Liaise with outsourced tax provider (PwC) for review, exception handling, and return finalisation.
- Contribute to maintaining smooth end-to-end tax compliance processes.
- Continuous improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes and improve efficiency.
- Support implementation of automation initiatives (e.g. Oracle reporting, data workflows).
- Assist in preparation for future developments in “real-time” reporting of indirect taxes such as preparation for e-invoicing requirements.
- Contribute to enhancing data quality and standardisation across processes.
Performance measures
- Over 95% accuracy in indirect tax data preparation with minimal post-review adjustments
- 100% on-time delivery of data and reports aligned to filing deadlines across jurisdictions
- Timely resolution of PwC and Group Tax queries within agreed timelines
- All submissions supported by clear, audit-ready reconciliations and documentation
- No missed WHT filing or payment deadlines
- Accurate identification of WHT-applicable payments with minimal rework
- Timely preparation and submission of complete documentation for filings
- Clear audit trail supporting all WHT computations and submissions

Core requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, tax, or audit; strong fresh graduates will be considered.
- Basic understanding of indirect taxes and/or withholding taxes is preferred.
- Familiarity with financial systems (e.g. Oracle) is advantageous.
Preferable skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to execute structured, process-driven tasks consistently.
- Strong data organisation and structuring capability (incl. large datasets)
- Good analytical skills with ability to derive insights from data
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel (data manipulation, reconciliations).
- Exposure to automation tools (e.g. Alteryx), AI tools (e.g. Copilot) and digital processes preferred.
