Our team serves those involved in domestic violence situations, especially children. By protecting the victims and treating those responsible for acts of domestic violence we help children heal. We also offer a full array of educational, prevention and clinical services focused on strengthening the parent/child relationship by promoting positive parenting skills through parenting workshops and co-parenting support.

About the Role
Description
Instructional Responsibilities
- Provides expectant parent/parents with an atmosphere of acceptance, nurturance, and empowerment so they may gain/maintain confidence in their parenting capabilities.
- Provides expectant parents with a general knowledge base of prenatal development, prenatal care, and an understanding of realistic expectations of pregnancy.
- Enhances parents’ ability to engage with, nurture, and bond with their child so to strengthen their child’s overall development.
- Provides parents with a general knowledge base of child development and an understanding of realistic expectations of child performance and behavior
- Engages parents in assessing and monitoring their child’s development and establishing realistic and attainable developmentally appropriate school readiness goals.
- Educates and assists parents in establishing/maintaining safe and healthy living and learning environments in the home and community and developing learning opportunities that will promote their child’s social/emotional, language, physical, and cognitive skills.
- Makes weekly visits to each family’s home. Introduces curriculum concepts emphasizing meaning and relevance to the expectant parent/parent and child.
- Monitors children/family’s goals and progress. Models appropriate parent/child activities to foster development. Collaborates with parents in planning and documenting additional home curriculum activities to implement with child.
- Provides parents with a general knowledge base of health and wellness routines and an understanding of their impact on the entire family.
- Assures a happy and safe learning environment during Family Day. Provides meaningful and developmentally appropriate learning experiences to enable social/emotional, physical, language and cognitive growth. Maintains equipment, materials and space in good order, requesting supplies and recommending equipment purchases to Child Development Manager.
- Takes part in meals with the children and families during Family Day following CHILD, Inc. procedures and philosophy.
- Assures that all screenings and ongoing assessments are administered as required and develops goals and curriculum plans for individual children/families and Family Day group as a whole
Family Service Responsibilities
- Assists expectant parent/parents in identifying any issues impacting their basic needs, safety, stress level, and/or self-sufficiency and establishing goals to address.
- Provides expectant parents/parents with information on available local community resources and how to access them. Assists with and advocates the process of establishing these connections and resources.
- Keeps accurate and up-to-date records, including enrollment forms, home visit reports, Family Partnership Agreements, medical and dental information, progress reports, observations, etc.
- Encourages parent involvement in home, Family Day and agency activities. Insures that parents feel welcomed and provides them with meaningful experiences.
- Participates in outreach programs to increase enrollment and awareness of Child Inc. programs and services. Coverage at events is rotated amongst the team, but may require working some occasional hours in the evening or on a weekend
Professional Responsibilities
- Demonstrates professional conduct, dependable attendance and punctuality, maintains appropriate confidentiality in all matters and adheres to agency policies, procedures and Head Start Performance Standards.
- Assumes full responsibility for implementation of home-based program, caseload, and adherence to federal, state and CHILD, Inc. requirements.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage home visit schedule to minimize cancellations and maximizing home visits. Ensures manager/supervisor has access to home visit schedule and follows all safety in the community protocols.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with a cross functional team including Health & Family Services
- If required to transport families, using an agency vehicle, obtaining and maintaining a RI Chauffeur’s license will be required. Child, Inc. will process a driving record check for employees who utilize agency vehicles.
- Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with RI state and agency Child Abuse and Neglect reporting procedures.
- Participates in pre-service trainings, and any required trainings assigned by the agency including 24 hours of professional development hours per year.
- Supports and attends Child, Inc. sponsored events.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Requirements
CDA (Child Development Associate) credential in Home Visiting or an Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Human Development, or Child Development
