Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Environmental Technician I to support the processing, testing, tracking, and secure handling of electronic assets. This position focuses on inventory management, data security, equipment testing, and asset reporting within a warehouse environment. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with computers and electronics, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of security and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming electronic equipment.
  • Create detailed asset reports by accurately recording manufacturer, model, serial number, and other required information.
  • Identify computer components, including processors, RAM, hard drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD), and other hardware.
  • Remove HDDs and SSDs from desktop computers, laptops, servers, and other electronic devices.
  • Operate hard drive and solid-state drive shredding equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Test computers, laptops, mobile devices, and other electronics to determine functionality and resale potential.
  • Use hand and power tools, including drills and screwdrivers, to safely disassemble electronic equipment.
  • Properly label equipment, pallets, containers, and customer orders to maintain accurate inventory and chain of custody.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Ensure all equipment containing sensitive data is handled securely and in compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, sorting, and staging electronic equipment within the warehouse.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed for on-site asset processing projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
  • Ability to identify common computer components such as processors, RAM, HDDs, SSDs, power supplies, and expansion cards.
  • Ability to accurately record asset information with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift and move electronic equipment as required.
  • Willingness to travel for customer projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with computers, electronics, IT asset disposition (ITAD), refurbishment, or electronic recycling.
  • Experience using inventory or asset tracking software.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Security Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must understand the importance of protecting sensitive customer data.
  • Responsible for maintaining the security and chain of custody of all equipment containing data throughout the processing and destruction lifecycle.
