About The Company
New Avenues to Independence provides opportunities for people with disabilities and special needs to become more independent and productive members of society by offering the highest quality support services and developing innovative and inclusive programs. New Avenues has developed a continuum of services, meeting the changing needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the course of their lifetime. New Avenues’ programs are currently serving over 600 individuals, ages 3-100 years in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Summit counties, Ohio. The individuals served include those with disabilities and chronic health conditions such as developmental disabilities, mental illness, autism, cerebral palsy, brain injury, and Down syndrome.

Position Overview:

As a Direct Support Professional at New Avenues to Independence, you will have the incredible opportunity to support and empower individuals with disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives and become active members of their community. Pay rate: ICF: $17 per hour

Shift: Multiple shifts available



What you’ll do:

  • Provide person-centered care and support to individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings, including residential homes and day programs.
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication management.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes growth, independence, and self-determination.
  • Plan and engage in meaningful activities, outings, and events to enhance the quality of life for the people you support.
  • Promote social and emotional well-being by building strong, supportive relationships.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals to create and implement individualized care plans.
  • Collaborating with people to complete tasks and build independence in their lives.
  • Providing support with daily routines such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, shopping and attending medical appointments.


Requirements

What We're Looking For:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s license with 4 pts or less, valid auto insurance
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED 
  • A desire to make a difference in people’s lives
