Custodian

Description
As a key member of our facilities team, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks, including:
- Daily Cleaning & Upkeep
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and scrub floors and surfaces in offices, restrooms, common spaces, and select shop areas
- Damp wipe furniture
- Clean and restock restrooms, kitchenettes, and lunchrooms
- Clean lunchroom and breakroom microwaves and refrigerators
- Empty trash and recycling containers
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace
- Deep Cleaning Duties
- Wash windows, screens, doors, doorframes, and walls
- Steam clean carpets, as needed
- Clean overhead fixtures
Maintenance & Safety
- Perform minor routine and preventative maintenance tasks
- Notify management of any major repair needs
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Custodial or janitorial experience
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Effective English communication skills
- Reliable and consistent attendance during scheduled shifts
- Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Team-oriented mindset
- Professional demeanor when interacting with coworkers, customers, and vendors
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals and compounds, including how to read and follow safety directions and warnings
- Satisfactory results from a pre-employment fit-for-duty screen and drug screen
- Satisfactory results from a pre-employment background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience working in an environment with a large footprint
- Experience using floor care equipment (e.g., buffers, scrubbers, carpet cleaners)
- Familiarity with industrial or commercial cleaning practices
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards (e.g., OSHA guidelines)
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Working Environment
The hours for this role are Monday-Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
This is an active role that involves being on one’s feet for most of the shift and moving between different buildings. To perform this job, you will need to be comfortable with:
- Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching (below, at, and above shoulder level), balancing, and climbing ladders or step stools
- Pushing, pulling, and handling materials and equipment
- Using hands and fingers for detailed tasks
- Talking, hearing, and using vision (near, far, peripheral, and depth perception)
You will also need to:
- Regularly lift/move up to 30 pounds
- Frequently lift/move up to 40 pounds
- Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
Some tasks may take place outdoors, so you will be exposed to different weather conditions. You will also be responsible for working around or handling biohazardous materials. ENTEK provides personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
