The Kitchen Aide supports the Dining Services Department by assisting with food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, and kitchen sanitation to ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The Kitchen Aide plays an important role in enhancing the dining experience and overall quality of life for seniors while maintaining compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents, family members, guests, and team members.
· Assist in serving meals in accordance with residents' dietary needs, preferences, and physician-ordered diets.
· Assist with receiving and storing food, supplies and deliveries.
· Monitor inventory levels and notify the Administrator of items that need to be replenished.
· Assist with ordering, inventory counts and documentation,
· Help create a positive dining experience that promotes resident satisfaction and dignity.
· Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests during meal service.
· Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning food items.
· Assist with meal plating and serving according to established portion control and presentation standards.
· Ensure food is served at proper temperatures and in compliance with food safety guidelines.
· Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using proper sanitation procedures.
· Clean and sanitize kitchen workstations, food preparation areas, dining rooms, and storage areas.
· Remove trash and recyclables and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
· Comply with all community policies, state regulations, and applicable licensing requirements.
· Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and resident concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
· Use kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals safely and according to established procedures.
· Perform other duties assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School diploma or equivalent, required
· Certificate in food preparation and/or culinary degree, preferred
· Prior experience working in food service, preferred
· Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed with results within seven (7) days after hire, unless regulations stipulate completion before employment. If the exams are not completed within this timeframe, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed.
· The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that LiveScan (fingerprinting) be completed on criminal convictions and be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DDS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. Approval must be obtained in order to retain employment.
· All employees are required to complete a drug screening
· All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification current

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works in a senior living community, including Assisted Living and Memory Care environments.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, cleaning products, and kitchen equipment.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts based on operational needs.
