About The Company
Our team of staff lawyers and administration support adult and youth clients with criminal matters and family law issues. Full legal services are provided to clients who are financially eligible. Duty counsel service is provided to in-custody clients, regardless of financial status, at all 74 Provincial Courthouses and circuit points. Legal advice through the Brydges Line is available to those arrested or detained, regardless of financial status. Summary advice and information may be provided to anyone by a Legal Aid Saskatchewan lawyer about a wide range of matters if they involve no more than a brief interview or telephone call. Legal Aid Saskatchewan has 14 offices throughout the province in the communities of Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, North Battleford, Melfort, La Ronge, Meadow Lake, Yorkton and Estevan. The Legal Aid Act and The Legal Aid Regulations provide the legislative mandate for The Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission, also known as Legal Aid Saskatchewan. About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant to support our Immigration & Refugee Law Services Officein Saskatoon. This is an opportunity to use your administrative expertise while helping provide access to justice for immigrants and refugees navigating complex legal processes. Reporting to the Director of Immigration & Refugee Law Services, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our Immigration & Refugee Law Office. You'll work alongside lawyers and consultants, providing high-level administrative support while interacting with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Our Senior Administrative Assistants earn from $51,916 and based on combination of education and experience up to $68,571 annually. Key Responsibilities

Under the leadership of the Director of Immigration & Refugee Law Servicessome of the key responsibilities of the Senior Administrative Assistant are: 
  • Welcome and assist clients, lawyers, and members of the public.
  • Open, maintain, and close client files using legal case management systems.
  • Prepare, format, and organize legal documents and applications.
  • Support refugee claim and Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) applications under lawyer supervision.
  • Coordinate files with staff and private bar panel lawyers.
  • Perform client intake and financial eligibility assessments when required.
  • Maintain office records, supplies, and administrative systems.
  • Generate reports and support office operations using legal databases.
  • Assist with orientation and training of team members.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, client-focused workplace committed to access to justice.
  • Maybe be elected to act as an Occupational Health and Safety committee member or representative.

Position Requirements

  • A high school diploma plus two years of relevant post-secondary education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least four years of legal administrative experience.
  • General knowledge of legal office practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.

The following would be considered strong assets:

  • Experience working with immigrants or refugees within the justice system.
  • Lived experience as an immigrant or refugee.
  • Experience with legal case management software (such as LAIN or CLIO).
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English.
