About the Role

As a Fleet Personnel Officer at BSM, you will engage in crew operations, serving as a key link between ship and shore. You will be overseeing crew planning, recruitment, rotation, and development while ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and cost efficiency to support safe and continuous vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all the administrative tasks and provides the required support to department’s members for the efficient and well organised execution of recruitment plan.

  • Prepares candidates’ required documentation, such as medical certificates, encodes medical data into the Crew PAL Personnel Management System, updates medical record etc., in order to assist the efficient pre-employment screening of seafarers.

  • Prepares the required documentation according to the requirements of SMC requests, in order to enable the timely travelling of crew to vessels. Monitors the accurate execution of all travelling operations and informs the FPD Marine Officer for any potential discrepancies.

  • Inserts all relevant data and records in the Crew PAL Personnel Management System and relevant databases, ensuring continuous coherence with crew changes.

  • Provides guidance and assistance to assigned seafarer candidates whenever needed and assists with queries arising either for vessel personnel or other departments, contributing towards internal information sharing and coherence.

  • Assists the proper and timely execution of embarkation and disembarkation of seafarers, preparing and providing all the documentation required from the SMCs.

  • Keeps record of all necessary training courses per individual seafarer required by the SMCs and communicates accordingly with the participants to attend the course(s).

  • Applies for Flag State Endorsement Timely and Accuracy; checks endorsement certificates; Flag documents trail tracking

  • Issuance of Crewing Clothing and Safety Shoes to joiners, when/where applicable, as per Company standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in a maritime-related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maritime recruitment or fleet personnel operations

  • Proven experience in employment contract development and crew planning

  • Familiarity with maritime labor law and seafarers’ rights

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of vessel crew requirements and seafarer qualifications

  • Knowledge of global and local maritime employment markets

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across geographies

  • High attention to detail and commitment to compliance

  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English

  • Proficiency in standard office software and digital tools
