New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as a Security Screening Supervisor.

 

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Duty Officer, the Security Screening Supervisor is responsible for leading security screening, personnel searching, access control and guard force operations at designated security screening facilities and critical entry control points across the Porgera Mine.

The position plays a key role within the Asset Protection Department by providing professional supervision of guard force personnel while ensuring all employees, contractors and visitors entering or leaving controlled areas are processed safely, efficiently and in accordance with New Porgera Limited's security standards.

Guard Force Protection Officers are responsible for maintaining the integrity of the mine's access control system through the effective application of searching, screening and inspection procedures using modern security technologies, including body scanners, baggage scanners, walk-through metal detectors and other security screening equipment.

The role requires exceptional professionalism, integrity, leadership, attention to detail and sound judgement. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to supervise local guard force personnel, make independent decisions and maintain high standards of customer service while enforcing security requirements in a busy operational environment.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Supervise Guard Force personnel deployed at security screening facilities and access control points.

  • Lead daily searching and screening operations using approved security technologies and procedures.

  • Conduct personnel, baggage, vehicle and property searches in accordance with APD Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Operate body scanners, baggage scanners, walk-through metal detectors and associated screening equipment.

  • Ensure all persons entering and exiting controlled areas comply with access control requirements.

  • Detect and prevent the unauthorised removal of Gold Bearing Material (GBM), company property, prohibited items and other security risks.

  • Maintain the integrity of access control systems through accurate identification, verification and visitor management procedures.

  • Monitor compliance with company security policies and respond appropriately to security incidents.

  • Coach, mentor and lead Guard Force personnel to maintain professional standards and continuous improvement.

  • Complete incident reports, search records and operational documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Promote a positive customer service culture while maintaining the highest standards of security.

  • Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all APD procedures.

 

What we are looking for

We are seeking highly professional security personnel who demonstrate integrity, leadership, initiative and a strong commitment to protecting people, assets and operations.

Successful applicants will possess excellent communication skills, a high level of personal presentation, strong observational abilities and the confidence to make sound decisions while working in a dynamic operational environment.

Experience in security screening, aviation security, corrections, law enforcement, military, mining security or critical infrastructure security will be highly regarded.

Previous experience supervising security screening operations and guard force personnel will be considered an advantage.

Experience as a Security Dog (K9) Handler is desirable but not essential.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Grade 10 qualification as a minimum.

  • Minimum three years' experience in security, law enforcement, military or mining security.

  • Previous experience supervising or leading security personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience in access control, personnel searching or security screening.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to identify suspicious behaviour.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism and personal accountability.

  • Ability to learn and operate modern electronic security screening systems.

  • Current Security Industry qualifications will be highly regarded.

  • Previous Security Dog (K9) handling experience will be highly regarded but is not essential

     

Mobilization Requirement

 

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
