The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for “at-risk” youth.

We are currently seeking a PT Gift In Kind Processor at The Caring Place Center of Men in Miami, FL,

JOB SUMMARY

The Gift In Kind Processor (GIKP) reports to the Community Development Manager and will process Gift-in-Kind (GIK) donations and will help with special projects as directed. Duties include physically collecting and moving donated GIK items (clothing, food, household goods, etc.). The GIKP will also be responsible for sorting, storing, counting, driving items to other locations as directed, maintaining an accurate inventory spreadsheet and provide general support in the Community Development Department.

CORE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet our GIK donors and help them feel valuable and appreciated. Provide a GIK receipt for each donation
  • Oversees sorting, organizing, storing and counting of GIK donated items to maintain a weekly and monthly inventory of donations using computer software
  • Ensures that GIK receipts are turned in to supervisor on a weekly basis and assists entering GIK information into the database timely and accurately
  • Distributes items as directed. This includes transporting items to other Mission properties and requires a valid Driver’s License
  • Ensures that all donations are entered into the appropriate spreadsheets. Assists with pricing updates of donated items utilized in placing dollar values to donated items. Provides reports as required that are complete, timely, and accurately
  • Must work flexible hours including weekends
  • Helps with other projects as directed by supervisor in the development department
  • Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
  • Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driver record
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in a non-profit organization or general office setting 
  • Must be computer literate have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Must be a self-motivated, highly organized team player, and be able to work in an environment where they are not afraid to get their “hands dirty” by helping to sort Gift-In-Kind (GIK)
  • Must be detailed-oriented with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and have computer skills
  • Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written direction in English
  • Requires a professional demeanor with the ability to interact with all levels of volunteers, donors, public, residents and staff 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must also be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
  • Must also be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
