About the Role
Position Summary:

The Family Social Wellness Coordinator, as a valuable member of a team of Family Wellness Coordinators within the Total Family Strategy program. Family Social Wellness Coordinators play a crucial role in promoting and enhancing the social well-being of youth and their families. Working collaboratively, they develop and implement events, initiatives, and activities that foster positive family relationships, communication, and community engagement. This position focuses on empowering families to build strong social networks and improve overall well-being, alongside fellow coordinators.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and implement family-focused events and initiatives that promote social wellness. This may include family bonding activities, support groups, workshops, and community engagement events.
  • Family Support and Guidance: Work together with the team to provide support, guidance, and resources to families, helping them enhance their social connections, improve family dynamics, and address challenges. Offer strategies and tools for effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving within the family unit.
  • Youth Support and guidance:  work with the families and the team to develop and implement youth activities and experiences that support healthy social connections, healthy physical activities, expressive activities such as art, dance, music, etc.
  • Community Collaboration: Collaborate as a team with community organizations, local agencies, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for partnership and community engagement. Jointly develop programs, events, and initiatives that promote family social wellness within the community.
  • Outreach and Networking: Engage as a team with families, community members, and organizations to raise awareness about the importance of family social wellness. Facilitate networking opportunities for families to connect with each other and access community resources.
  • Workshops and Training: Work collaboratively with the team to plan and deliver workshops, training sessions, and educational programs for youth and families on topics related to family social wellness, including building healthy relationships, effective communication, and stress management.   Focuses on the CRISP methodology.
  • Collect feedback from participants, measure outcomes, and make joint recommendations for improvement based on evaluation results.
  • Collaboration with Service Providers: Collaborate closely with other service providers, such as counselors, therapists, and social workers, as part of the team. Ensure a holistic approach to family social wellness by making appropriate referrals and coordinating services when necessary.
  • Stay Updated: Collaborate with the team to stay informed about the latest research, best practices, and trends in family social wellness. Continuously update knowledge and skills as a team to provide evidence-based support to families.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, education, communication, social work, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with families, collaborate with community stakeholders, and deliver workshops and training.
  • Organizational and time management skills to plan and coordinate multiple initiatives as a team.
  • Good event planning and implementation skills with attention to detail and safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team of Family Wellness Coordinators, developing and implementing programs together.
  • Familiarity with community resources, support services, and networks available to families.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to work with diverse populations and address sensitive issues.

Education:  A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Family Studies, Education or any related field.

Experience:  Must be able to assist families struggling with multiple stressors and child welfare issues. Understanding of community resources and social support development is required in Pinellas County.

Continued Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and continued throughout employment

Continued Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, Valid Insurance, Valid Registration, and Personal Motor Vehicle for daily use.

Clear Criminal Background Check and continued throughout employment (must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character).  Level II and Locals

Working Conditions:   Must have valid Florida driver's license and a driving record that is acceptable to Suncoast Center; must meet minimum levels of personal automobile liability insurance; requires both indoor and outdoor work with outreach to off-site locations.  Exposure to extreme heat and humidity during the summer months.  Schedule may be irregular and will include evenings and weekends. Work is primarily off site in community locations.
