Material Handler
Reports To: Logistics Manager
Summary: Receives, stores, organizes, and distributes products within the warehouse and supports safe truck court movement for loading and unloading operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Receiving, Storage, and Distribution
- Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Convey materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Pull customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to the packing station or shipping department.
- Mark materials with identifying information and open crates and other containers as needed.
Truck Court Equipment Maneuvering and Parking Organization
- Safely maneuver tractor-trailers, containers on chassis, yard mules, and boom trucks within the warehouse court/yard to position units for loading and unloading.
- Organize and maintain parking within the warehouse court/yard to support safe traffic flow, efficient loading and unloading, and clear access for warehouse operations.
- Coordinate yard/court movement activities with the Logistics Manager, Logistics Coordinator and Drivers to reduce congestion and avoid operational delays.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules, other trucks in the private yard, and company procedures when working around moving equipment, trailers, containers, and pedestrians.
Warehouse Coordination, Cross-Training, and Safety
- Coordinate warehouse activities with the warehouse leader and office teams.
- Cross-train in all facets of the warehouse and potentially other departments.
- Complete general housekeeping duties to maintain a continuously safe and clean work environment.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing required safety equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other: Actively participate and engage in other company activities requested by the manager. Support company with special projects and workflow process improvements. Lead by and demonstrate company values.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High school education.
- Forklift & Crane Rigging Certification (preferred)
- Ability to safely operate or be trained/authorized to operate yard equipment required for the position, including tractor-trailers, containers on chassis, yard mules, and boom trucks, in accordance with company policy and applicable requirements.
Skills:
- Careful reading and attention to detail.
- Forklift & Overhead Crane operation.
- Safe equipment maneuvering in warehouse court/yard environments.
- Coordination and communication with warehouse leaders, drivers, and office teams.
- Organization of parking areas and traffic flow in the warehouse court/yard.
Work Environment:
- Warehouse, loading/unloading, and warehouse court/yard environment.
- Employee must lift up to 50 lbs.; moderate noise level and temperature; requires good vision and hearing.
- Work around forklifts, tractor-trailers, containers on chassis, yard mules, boom trucks, pedestrians, and other warehouse traffic.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Education: High school education.
- Forklift Certification
- Spanish proficiency
- Ability to obtain CDL license within1 year may be required
