Light Duty Fleet Maintenance Mechanic

Description
We seek an experienced, self-motivated individual with a positive work ethic for the fleet maintenance mechanic position. Position hours are late afternoon till 10 PM or later, Monday-Friday. Some overtime is offered on Saturdays when needed.
Summary/Objective
This position primarily supports all aspects of mechanical service for our customers. It involves working on customer sites for fleet maintenance, ensuring a positive customer experience. All tasks must adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry standards, and employees should not undertake work they are not trained for.
Essential Functions
- Explain mechanical diagnosis and repairs to non-mechanical individuals as required.
- Provide repair recommendations, list the required parts, and estimate the hours required to perform the repairs using industry-standard labor guidelines.
- List all items needing attention, whether maintenance, safety, or other.
- Road-test automobiles and perform vehicle and digital inspections, submitting written findings to sales staff.
- Perform repairs to specifications (wheel alignments, steering/suspension systems, brake systems, light engine work, battery, alternator, belts, tune-ups, scan codes, sensors, flushes, etc.).
- Maintain service standards of cleanliness and orderliness of space and equipment in the service department (e.g., alignment machines, lifts, brake lathes, etc.).
- Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedules.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
- Keep store management informed of service-area mechanical repair issues as they arise.
- Comply with company safety policy and federal/state OSHA safety requirements, which include but are not limited to the wearing of approved eye/ear protection, proper lifting techniques, and proper footwear.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Observe all rules and procedures as trained and under Company policy
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with familiarity with both diesel and gasoline engines.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle components, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Tools: Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic scanners, and heavy equipment. Provides own tools.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy objects (often up to 50+ lbs) and work in varying weather conditions.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license
