Senior Field Service Engineer – Controls (Level 3)

Company: MSHS Pacific Power Group
Location: Kent, WA
Travel: Up to 50% (Domestic and International)
Pay Range: $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on skills and experience
Overtime: Frequent overtime available, up to ~600 hours annually
Additional Requirements: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Passport and TWIC card


Job Summary

MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a skilled Senior Field Service Engineer – Controls (Level 3) to support power generation and industrial control systems in the field. This role is hands-on and customer-facing, focused on troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting complex control and automation systems in operational environments.


Candidates with power generation, marine, industrial automation, or military technical backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and fault finding across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Install, commission, and support control systems and automation equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical and control schematics
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to customers and internal teams
  • Support in-house system testing and control system builds
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in field and shop environments
  • Act as a technical escalation resource for service execution and customer support
  • Prepare accurate service reports and documentation
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
  • Work overtime, including nights or weekends, as required

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on field experience in power generation, industrial automation, marine systems, or heavy      industrial environments
  • Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting capability
  • Experience working independently in customer-facing field service roles
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics
  • Working knowledge of industrial control systems, automation platforms, AVRs, PLC-based systems, and HMI or SCADA      environments
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial or outdoor environments
  • Ability to obtain a Passport and TWIC card

Desired Skills, Experience & Education

  • Military technical background
  • Generator controls commissioning or service experience
  • PLC configuration or programming exposure
  • HMI or SCADA configuration or troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Spanish language skills
  • Trade school, technical training, or associate degree in electrical, controls, or mechanical      disciplines

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, industrial facilities, and outdoor environments
  • Comfortable standing, kneeling, stooping, and working on equipment for extended periods
  • Willingness to travel and work variable schedules based on service needs
