About the Role

Job Title: Psychiatry Resident - PGY 3

 

Location: St. Barnabas Hospital

 

Department: Psychiatry

 

Reports To: Chief of Psychiatry, Residency Program Director

 

Position Overview:

 

The Psychiatry Resident PGY 3 will engage in advanced clinical training under the supervision of experienced faculty in a dynamic and diverse psychiatric setting. The resident will build upon foundational knowledge and skills acquired in the first two years, with a focus on enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies across various psychiatric disorders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Duties:

   - Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for patients in inpatient, outpatient, and consultation-liaison settings.

   - Provide psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy to patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions.

   - Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment strategies.

  1. Education and Training:

   - Attend didactic sessions, seminars, and workshops designed to enhance knowledge and clinical skills related to psychiatry.

   - Supervise and mentor junior residents and medical students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

  1. Research and Quality Improvement:

   - Participate in ongoing research projects and quality improvement initiatives within the department.

   - Collect and analyze data, and contribute to presentations and publications as appropriate.

  1. Professional Development:

   - Attend professional conferences and workshops to stay updated on the latest advancements in psychiatry.

   - Engage in self-directed learning to continuously enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.

- Completion of PGY 2 in Psychiatry residency.

- State medical license (or eligible for licensure).

- Strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
