Commis Chef

The Commis Chef supports the culinary team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. Working under the guidance of senior chefs, the Commis Chef is responsible for ensuring efficient kitchen operations, proper food handling, and adherence to luxury hospitality standards. Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items in accordance with established recipes and brand standards.
Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, measuring, marinating, and organizing mise en place before service.
Maintain consistency in food quality, portion control, and presentation.
Ensure all food preparation and storage comply with HACCP and food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas.
Properly store food items, monitor stock rotation (FIFO), and minimize food waste.
Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food deliveries according to company standards.
Follow instructions from the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Executive Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions.
Support banquet operations, special events, and high-volume service periods when required.
Maintain personal hygiene and professional grooming standards at all times.
Participate in training sessions and continuously develop culinary skills and product knowledge.
Comply with all hotel policies, health & safety regulations, and kitchen procedures.
Perform any other duties assigned by the senior culinary team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar kitchen role, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, or fine dining restaurant.
Basic knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and cooking methods.
Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP principles.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Professional appearance and commitment to maintaining high standards.
Good command of English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
