About the Role

Catalyst Velocity Data Center Technician – Trainee Program
Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is expanding rapidly, and we are looking for Data Center Technicians to join our Infrastructure Operations team through our Trainee Program. This structured onboarding and development program is designed to accelerate the growth of early-career technicians by combining hands-on operational experience, technical training, mentorship, and career development. Successful candidates will be considered for full time permanent opportunities at the conclusion of the Trainee Program.

Minimum Qualifications (At least ONE of the following)

  • Minimum Diploma/Bachelors in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or related technical discipline
  • Up to two (2) years of experience in data centre operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications electronis or related technical field

     

 

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Linux command-line experience.
  • Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
  • ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.

     

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
  • Strong procedural discipline and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, safety, and operational rigor.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Ability to mentor and support developing technicians.
  • Effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

     

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20kgs safely.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a data center environment.
  • Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift-based.
  • Reliable transportation to the assigned data center location.
  • Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available. You must have full work rights in Malaysia.
