About the Role
Job Overview
The Human Resource Assistant in this role will perform administrative tasks, provide support of the day-to-day HR functions, initiatives, and services to the HR team, employees, and external customers. The individual will be a results-oriented professional with a team player mentality. Ensuring the day-to-day workflow of the human resources department is effective, efficient and consistent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to the HR department including answering the main phone line, checking voicemails daily delivering messages to appropriate team members if applicable, responding to emails, opening and distributing mail.
- Maintaining the office, front area and HR Training Center clean and organized, computers in working order, contacting I.T. for possible network/connection issues, requesting service for equipment, and ordering of office supplies.
- Check HR Mailbox daily for any incoming mail and handle/distribute accordingly.
- Assist employees with ADP Self-Services i.e. entering/updating direct deposit, W4 changes, account registrations, password resets, account lockouts, answering frequently asked questions for internal and external customers.
- Ensuring all HR forms are stocked, copy paper is replenished as needed.
- Assist employees with personal information update in ADP and FGCC by having employees complete the proper forms.
- Order name tags for employees as requested by department managers.
- May assist HR Generalist with scheduling candidates for licensing appointments, scanning license copies and updating license dates in ADP and HR GSP E-File Cabinet simultaneously.
- Assist employees with verification of employment letters, forms, paystubs as requested.
- May enter and/or audits Personnel Action Forms (PAFs), Corrective Action Forms, and Termination forms into ADP and HR GSP E-File Cabinet simultaneously.
- Responsible for the scanning of all employee documents into ADP and Secured Shared Folders per HR department guidelines.
- Assists with replying to DOE (Department of Economic Opportunity/Unemployment Office).
- May assist with scheduling compliance training i.e. Responsible Gaming and AML courses, scheduling in-house and external trainings.
- Assists with maintenance of active and inactive I9 Binders.
- Self-starter in learning about HR and casino compliance, regulations, laws, internal policies/procedures, and internal control protocols.
- Assists HR department with various research projects and/or special projects.
- Assists Benefits & Experience Specialist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, 401K Plan information, Health & Welfare events, employee recognition, holiday parties, birthdays, etc.
- Act as back-up to HR Generalist when out or vacant.
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent college level courses.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in office environment performing clerical duties required.
- Current experience in HR or interest in becoming an HR professional.
- Experience working with HR files, or other confidential client records, is preferred.
- Experience using most modules of ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills to include effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Must be customer service oriented, approachable, and maintain a positive outlook.
- Must be able to work in collaboration with peers, staff members, and regulatory agency personnel.
- Bi-lingual English/Haitian Creole preferred.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.
