About the Role

Description

The Drill Out Operator III is a senior-level lead role responsible for leading and executing drill out operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance. This position involves overseeing the maintenance and operation of advanced drilling equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and mentoring junior operators. The Drill Out Operator III will ensure the highest standards of performance while adhering to safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Demonstrate and model professionalism through proper PPE use, implementation of living Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and thorough checklists.
  •  Exhibit expert knowledge of pad operations and best practices, providing situational awareness to support team efforts.
  •  Independently manage frac, drill out, flowback, and production operations while troubleshooting and resolving issues in real-time.
  •  Operate, maintain, and construct effective solutions for manifold systems, plug catchers, separators, line heaters, and associated high- and low-pressure equipment.
  •  Oversee field maintenance tasks for flowback equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  •  Identify teaching moments to enhance the skills of team members, delivering clear and concise information aligned with company best practices.
  •  Uphold high standards of service and performance, drawing on extensive experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drill Out Operations: Conduct routine well testing, including production, flow, and pressure tests, ensuring accurate data collection. Capable of identifying and correcting problems on site (including maintenance) Can effectively instruct, ensuring SSE through Op III meet or exceed their expectations and knowledge base.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain Drill out equipment, including separators, flow meters, and pressure gauges. Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed. Expert manifold operator, plug catcher, SKO, Line Heater, and separator operator
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Collect and analyze data from testing operations, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting to supervisory staff.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, participating in safety training and meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other field personnel and engineering teams to coordinate testing schedules and resolve operational issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of data collected by following standard operating procedures and best practices in testing methods. Fully understands customer downhole goals and associated impacts from flowback operator decisions and actions.
  • Field Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and repair of Drill Out equipment and tools.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Drill Out Operators I and II, providing guidance and support to ensure operational excellence and adherence to safety protocols. Facilitate training sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  •  High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  •  Minimum 7 years of experience in oil field operations or well testing, with a focus on drill out techniques.
  •  Advanced knowledge of drill out equipment and operational procedures.
  •  Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  •  Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •  Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  •  Operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  •  Stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and inspect equipment in various positions.
  •  Physically capable of lifting 50-100 lbs and working long hours in extreme conditions.
  •  Work in high-noise environments (over 85 dBA) with appropriate hearing protection.
  •  Adapt to outdoor conditions, including extreme weather and various terrains.
  •  Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Training Requirements:

  •  PEC/Safeland certification.
  •  Smith Driving Instruction.
  •  Forklift and Aerial Lift certifications.
  •  Fall Protection training.
  •  Additional training as required.
