About the Role

Description

The MS|HS Dean of Students serves as the primary advocate for students in the division and is responsible for all non-academic, student-related matters. This position will work collaboratively and in full partnership with the MS|HS Principal to design, refine, and nurture a student experience that supports the school’s mission – shaping a student culture where academic excellence and Christ-centered formation are inseparable. The Dean of Students provides leadership, administrative oversight, and ministerial support for High School and Middle School students, parents, and staff – all in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Rock Academy.


  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Fostering a healthy spiritual culture among students, staff, and parents

• Building and maintaining authentic relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff

• Assessing and monitoring the current student program and culture, behavior and attendance policies and procedures, and identifying strengths and opportunities for growth

• Establishing and maintaining a collaborative, high-trust leadership culture within the MS|HS team, students, and parents

• Aligning student culture with best practices, ensuring the discipline process is preventive, corrective, and ultimately restorative, supporting the school’s mission to develop Christian leaders who are deep thinkers, dynamic communicators, and do-something Christians.

• Maintaining a clear vision for student culture, discipleship and faith formation

• Take initiative on other duties, projects, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.

• Continually evaluate and refine spiritual growth, safety, and discipline practices in response to evolving guidelines and the changing needs of the community.


Leadership & Team Development

• Collaborate and share management responsibilities with HS|MS Principal.

• Provide oversight of daily campus supervision.

• Provide both advocacy and accountability for students.

• Actively support and participate in the spiritual growth of students, team members and the broader school community.


Operations & Results

• In collaboration with the Safety Team and MS|HS Principal, oversee campus safety protocols and crisis management processes, with clear and consistent communication.

• Proactively address student behavioral challenges with care, consistency, and grace

• Oversee and carry out Student/Parent Handbook policies on a daily basis, with emphasis on setting and enforcing student expectations.


Community Engagement & Outreach

• Participate in and supervise school events, working closely with student leadership organizations, ASB Director, and MS|HS Principal.

• Serve as a visible, engaged presence for students, parents, and staff around matters of discipline, spiritual growth, and safety.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field required. Master’s degree or higher preferred.

  

Organizational and Spiritual Requirements:

  • Demonstrate Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity.
  • Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others. 
  • Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which includes: social security verification, Local, State & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events. This includes key events such as holidays, etc.
  • Regular involvement in Rock Church activities, ministries and events.
  • Signed acknowledgment of the Rock’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock’s policies, procedures and employee handbook. 
  • Be self-motivated and goal oriented, use good judgment, and be flexible and innovative.

Physical Requirements:
