About the Role

Grosvenor Mine has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team on a permanent basis.

As Grosvenor progresses towards a planned return to longwall production, this role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's most significant underground coal mine restarts. Working alongside experienced technical and operational teams, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining effective ventilation and gas management systems that support a safe, compliant and productive operation.

Working alongside experienced professionals, and working across the disciplines of; ventilation, gas management, mine planning and projects, you will vital play a role in implementing leading-edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.

This role will see you coordinate mine planning activities and be accountable for delivery of Business Plan and Monthly Operating Plan mine planning inputs. A high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills will be instrumental in your success in this role.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this key role will see you:

  • Deliver best practice mining engineering services and support to the mine, supporting Zero Harm by ensuring compliance with all safety systems and legislation
  • Plan and coordinate mine planning (weekly, short-range, Monthly, 5 yearly and business planning) and production review meetings
  • Monitor, analyse and report mine on performance and manage projects.
  • Contribute to the effective management of ventilation, gas management, mine planning, and technical projects
  • Support designated process coordinators and interact effectively with the Operations team
  • Identify mine site productivity and process improvement programs, and more generally to find and raise improvement ideas in areas such as safety, production, cost and efficiency
  • Lead the permit to mine process to ensure all technical aspects are addressed to maintain continuity to production
  • Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified Mining Engineer (or equivalent)
  • A detailed understanding of the coal mining processes
  • Working knowledge of relevant mining legislation and its application
  • A high level of planning and problem-solving ability
  • Well-developed communication and collaboration skills
  • Previous experience within underground mining operations (preferably coal)
  • Previous experience with mine planning tools, such as XPAC, IntelliCAD, AutoCAD, Mine Planner, Deswik.
