[What the role is]
School of Engineering - Lecturer (Sustainable Built Environment)[What you will be working on]
• Design and deliver lessons to full-time diploma students in areas such as Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV), Building Services Engineering, energy management, Green Buildings, sustainability and related Built Environment disciplines.
• Integrate industry-relevant technologies and practices such as smart building systems, building analytics, digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications into teaching and learning.
• Develop and conduct Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes for adult learners and industry professionals.
• Design assessments and undertake curriculum development, course delivery and student learning responsibilities.
• Supervise student internships, final-year projects and industry-based learning activities.
• Mentor and guide students in their academic, professional and personal development.
• Initiate, lead and manage Technology, Innovation and Enterprise (TIE) projects, including industry consultancy, commissioned projects, applied research and innovation initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for industry-funded projects, grants and collaborations with companies, government agencies and professional bodies.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders in the Built Environment sector to support education, innovation and industry engagement.
• Participate in programme administration, outreach activities and other school-wide initiatives.
[What we are looking for]
• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Sustainable Built Environment, Facilities Management, Energy Engineering, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Preferably with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV), Green Mark consultancy, Building Services Engineering, energy efficiency, sustainability, Facilities Management, or related Built Environment sectors.
• Strong technical knowledge in ACMV/HVAC systems, energy-efficient building services, building energy performance, Green Mark requirements and sustainable building technologies.
• Familiarity with smart building systems, building analytics, digitalisation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Building Information Modelling (BIM) or related technologies would be advantageous.
• Experience in managing or participating in industry projects, consultancy assignments, commissioned projects, grant-funded projects or innovation initiatives would be advantageous.
• Passionate about education and committed to nurturing both youth and adult learners.
• Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Possess sound planning, organisational and project management skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
