Board certified Emergency Room Physicians staff the (ER) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. General surgery, orthopedic, and OB/GYN consultants are available on an on-call basis. The ER department is supplied with the advanced equipment necessary to meet the demands of any patient with ailments ranging from bronchitis to multi-system trauma. St. Mary's CareFlight offers flight for life helicopter services to Gunnison Valley Hospital. Although it is not just a hospital, it is a fully integrated health system that includes almost every aspect of healthcare. Dietary Cook - Hospital Food Services


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hospital Dietary Cook to join our healthcare team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in a fast-paced medical environment. Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines and patient-specific requirements

- Follow standardized recipes and portion control procedures to ensure consistency and quality

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas

- Assist in inventory management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies

- Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare staff to accommodate special dietary needs

- Ensure all food safety regulations and hospital policies are strictly adhered to

- Monitor food temperatures and presentation to ensure optimal quality and safety

- Support meal delivery processes to ensure timely service to patients


Skills and Qualifications:

- Previous experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting

- Knowledge of dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and food safety standards

- Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions accurately

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

- Food handler’s certification or equivalent preferred

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Required Job Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Food Handlers Permit


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to carry, climb, hear/listen, lift, reach and manipulate objects, tools, or equipment, push/pull, see, speak, squat/kneel, stand, and walk. Heavy physical exertion is also required as duties involve moving materials weighing 10 – 20 pounds continually, and 25 – 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 90% of the work period. Work involves the potential for exposure to infectious. This position requires mobility. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
