Salary: Up to £45,500 dependent on experience

Role description:
This role within Naval Ships Future Business and Technology (FB&T) works in the early stage of the design lifecycle, identifying and evaluating new technologies. The role holder will utilise theoretical engineering knowledge combined with practical experience and skills to develop technologies for future products, services, specifications, designs, and developments. The role holder will also resolve a range of engineering issues and problems, compile technical reports and accompanying presentations to present Technologies as mature solutions for Engineering to select in a future ship design.
Core Duties:
- Design and develop solutions for assigned products, resolving technical issues with supervision.
- Develops qualification requirements for on-boarding of new Technology
- Support peer reviews and verification activities
- Conduct qualification testing for new technologies
Essential skills:
- Depth and breadth of engineering knowledge & experience in a Naval Ship or similar Technology business
- Assessing mindset, that models, understands, quantifies and characterises problems and applies creativity to generate innovative solutions
The FB&T team
The FB&T team has been established to win new business, which requires us to be able to maintain a competitive edge for new ship contracts. The introduction of technology is one way that we can reduce cost or schedule and increase performance of our products to help win competitive contracts.
