Job Summary
 Safety and Security Representatives provide support to direct care providers by provide supervision of consumers. Engaging youth and adults in problems solving safety and security concerns they assist direct care as needed with meeting patient needs, activities and responsibilities, modeling safe and positive behavior and using effective problem solving skills. Safety and Security Representatives are responsible for adhering to the Employee Manual, Operations Manual and organizational policies and procedures in completing job responsibilities. When needed, a Safety and Security Representative may act in a Lead Capacity when Milieu Manager and/or Campus Supervisor is absent from Unit based upon workloads and staffing requirements.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution

Licensure/Certification:

• Valid Driver’s license and auto insurance with good record 

Experience:

At least one year related experience and/or training; requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email 

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Experience working in a behavioral health setting or related field focused on serving individuals through the use of trauma informed and person centered approaches. Experience engaging individuals experience behavioral health crisis is preferred.


Key Responsibilities

• Supervises unit activity and patient movement 

• Responsible for keeping the unit safe, clean and orderly 

• Familiar with patient goals; able to follow individualized treatment plans for patients provided by team of professionals 

• Provide needed supports to youth and adults 

• Assist with patient supervision and engagement

• Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan, when necessary 

• Completes required documentation, forms and reports per agency's policy and procedures; enters documentation accurately and timely per required deadlines utilizing KVC Hospitals computer software programs 

• Documents relevant information on each client regarding their behavior and interactions 

• Utilizes KVC’s HRIS system to keep personal profile up to date, record PTO, source information on benefits, and stay abreast on company updates 

• Provides transportation for patients to visits and other appointments as needed and directed 

• May assist in meal preparation and laundry as needed and directed 

• Attends staff meeting as directed 

• Attends and completes all required in-service training and course work on an annual basis per agency requirements Attend trainings, team meetings, and maintain compliance with policies and procedures

Additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and staff qualifications.

 

Physical & Work Environment
This role involves a mix of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with regular use of office equipment. You’ll work in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
