About the Role

Title: Retail Sales Associate

Job Summary:
 This position works closely with all retail outlets. The Retail Sales Associate will attend clinics and training on various ski apparel and equipment, practicing inventory controls and conducting inventory counts and spot checks throughout the season. The role involves selling soft goods and hard goods to guests in a professional and friendly manner, and restocking the floor. Retail clerks may be assigned duties in any of the retail areas: Snow Ghost Outfitters, Summit House Gift Shop, and/or Base Lodge Traders.

  • Reports to: Manager/Lead
  • Employees Supervised: None

 

Job Specifications:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Previous cashier experience required
  • Previous sales experience preferred
  • Previous experience working directly with the public
  • Knowledge of the ski/snowboard industry is helpful
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision
  • Must be able to function effectively with guests and staff
  • In the winter, skiing experience is preferred, but actual ski time is not part of the job

 

Specific Duties:

  • Learn and implement proper operating procedures related to inventory controls, discounts, warranties, holds, special orders, phone orders, transfer process, cash register operation, end-of-day cash-out procedures, open/close procedures, and related duties
  • Sell all soft goods and hard goods, depending on location
  • Attend clinics as appropriate and requested
  • Be attentive to sales and promotions
  • Stock and maintain retail inventory in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Assist with pricing, displays, cleaning, and folding
  • Assist in Rental operations as requested
  • Provide feedback on buying trends, need to reorder items, etc.
  • Work within the framework of Rental & WSI policies and procedures and meet goals
  • Support Guest Services Cross-Sell Plan and Rental Business Plan
  • Make recommendations as necessary
  • Assist in any other activities within the WSI organization to develop teamwork with other departments and associates
  • Be an advocate of excellent guest service:
    • Ensure guests are taken care of in a friendly, efficient manner
    • Deal with difficult guests and problem resolution

 

Work Environment:

  • Moderate physical activity required, handling objects up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods, up to 6-8 hours
  • Includes light to moderate physical activity, including bending, stooping, lifting, etc., on a routine basis
  • Working holidays, nights, and weekends is an accepted part of the job
  • Non-smoking environment
