About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY

Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. (OSF) is seeking a competent individual to fill our Combi Attendant Position. The Combi Attendant supports the final boxing of our bagged product by operating and attending to the box erector machine in the packaging department.  This position will require skilled communication with all positions in the packaging department to ensure a superior boxed product is shipped.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understanding the combi (or any box erector) equipment being used and how to adjust tolerances as necessary.
  • Observing the flow of the packaging line and identifying any areas of improvement.
  • Understanding production schedule needs and expectation
  • Ability to hold quality standards of finished products.
  • Cross training to support packaging bagger operator.
  • Ability to lift and stack boxes that weigh up to 35lbs overhead.
  • Ability to follow multiple stacking patterns onto pallets. 
  • Confirming label, case coding and tape are applied appropriately and readable on a finished good case.
  • Attaching appropriate labels and tags to packages or pallets when required.
  • Stretch wrapping products.
  • Ability to safely utilize a pallet jack.
  • Assembling cardboard boxes.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working area.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Adjusting positively to change in direction or assignment.
  • Ability to do more than one task during a work shift.
  • Following all company safety rules.
  • Ensuring personal protective equipment is properly utilized.
  • Reporting any noncompliance issues, unsafe situations/equipment or any issues with product flow or production to supervisor immediately.
  • Following company Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Actively participating in general housekeeping duties.
  • Participating in plant sanitation.
  • Counting and Packing bags into corrugate cases 
  • Observing all machinery for issues in assigned area.
  • Demonstrating a daily commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the Box Stacker Position
  • Performing other tasks as necessary and as requested by Management.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in food processing a plus

 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. safely
  • Lifting up to 35lbs overhead, repetitively
  • Standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting and bending, use of both hands, manual & finger dexterity for rolling/manipulating
  • Cold, wet, and damp climates of 33°F-38°F
  • Exposure to loud noises
  • The requirement of the use of safety equipment when operating machinery, that may include but will not be limited to, protective clothing, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes.
  • Repetitive motions

 

GMP & FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety policies.
  • Employees must follow all sanitation, hygiene, and PPE requirements.
  • Visible body piercings, jewelry, and any other prohibited personal items are not allowed on the production floor to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
