Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology (temporary position until November 2026)

Understanding the genetics behind valuable crop traits starts with accurate molecular research. As a temporary member of our Biotechnology Research (BTR) team, you will contribute to innovative research that supports the development of better vegetable varieties. This temporary opportunity is particularly attractive for recent BSc or MSc graduates with a laboratory background who are looking to gain valuable industry experience in an international research environment.
Make a difference as Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology
As Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology, you will support research projects within the team of BTR - Molecular Technology Development. Working closely with Researchers, Senior Researchers and international colleagues, you will apply molecular technologies to identify genetic variation and generate insights that support breeding decisions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge molecular research while further developing your expertise.
In this role, your work will include:
Supporting molecular biology research projects through the preparation and execution of laboratory experiments (from sampling to DNA isolation, to analysis in the lab);
Applying molecular technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), to investigate genetic variation in crops;
Analyzing, documenting, and discussing experimental results with (Senior) Researchers and project teams;
Assisting in the optimization and implementation of molecular protocols, methods, and techniques (including liquid handling automation systems);
Contributing to research that supports breeding programs and the development of improved vegetable varieties;
Staying informed about scientific developments and relevant literature in molecular genetics and biotechnology.

As Assistant Researcher Molecular Biology, you are a hands-on and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a laboratory environment. You combine scientific curiosity with a structured way of working and are motivated to find reliable answers through research. You communicate effectively with colleagues, openly share ideas, and enjoy collaborating in multidisciplinary teams. Your passion for molecular biology and interest in plant science enable you to make a valuable contribution to our research projects.
In addition, you have:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or a related field;
Experience with molecular genetic techniques and a basic understanding of molecular biology principles;
Knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies is a plus
Knowledge of basic data analysis methods;
An interest in genetics, plant breeding, and agricultural research;
The ability to work accurately, independently, and meet project deadlines;
The willingness to collaborate closely with a Researcher for maximizing output.

A position for 32–38 hours per week;
A gross monthly salary between €3,322.79 and €4,240.94 (Scale X, Collective Labor Agreement for Vegetable Seed Companies), based on a full-time workweek of 38 hours and aligned with your knowledge and experience;
8.33% vacation allowance and an attractive annual bonus program of 7.5% of your annual salary, depending on your job level and company performance;
25 vacation days, the option to purchase additional vacation days, and one paid vitality day per year, with extra vacation days granted as you get older;
