Requirements

The Kitchen Prep Team Member plays a vital role in delivering the fresh, high-quality ingredients that are the foundation of the Tacos & Tequila Cantina experience. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients according to recipes and production standards, maintaining food safety and sanitation practices, and supporting a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen operation.


What You'll Do:


Prep with Excellence

  • Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients according to recipes and preparation guidelines.
  • Prepare fresh produce, proteins, sauces, salsas, and other ingredients to support daily kitchen operations.
  • Follow prep lists and production schedules to ensure products are available for service.
  • Maintain consistency in food preparation and portioning standards.

Maintain Food Safety Standards

  • Follow all sanitation, food handling, personal hygiene, and health regulations.
  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate products to ensure freshness and food safety compliance.
  • Monitor food quality and notify management of any concerns regarding freshness or product quality.
  • Maintain clean and sanitized prep areas, utensils, and equipment.

Keep the Kitchen Running Smoothly

  • Organize and stock prep stations with necessary ingredients and supplies.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating deliveries according to company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout each shift.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and report repair or maintenance needs.
  • Help minimize waste through proper handling and storage of food and supplies.

Work as One Team

  • Collaborate closely with kitchen and restaurant team members to support smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with cooks, supervisors, and managers regarding prep needs and inventory concerns.
  • Assist team members during busy periods and contribute to overall kitchen success.
  • Remain open to coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Deliver on Our Standards

  • Follow all Tacos & Tequila Cantina policies, procedures, and daily operational expectations.
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to contribute to a successful shift.
  • Demonstrate our T.A.C.O. values through every interaction with guests and fellow team members.
  • Support additional responsibilities as assigned by the management team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools.
