Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lending Training Specialist to serve as the dedicated training resource focused on lending training for the employees of 1st MidAmerica Credit Union. This position is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality lending training programs that support the proficiency of lending staff across all branches. The incumbent ensures team members are knowledgeable in lending systems (including Meridianlink DL4), lending products and services, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role oversees the credit life and accident and health (A&H) insurance licensing and certification process, coordinates training with external vendors such as SWBC, and partners with Commercial Services to deliver Business Account Training. The Lending Training Specialist also serves as backup to the Senior Training Specialist for new hire Branch Operations-related training, assists with Member Services training as needed, and delivers On Demand Training at branches on lending-specific topics
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and deliver comprehensive lending training programs covering lending systems (including Meridianlink DL4), loan products and services, lending policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance. Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, and instructional content to support the lending team's ongoing education needs.
- Oversee and manage the credit life and accident and health (A&H) insurance licensing and certification process. Ensure that all applicable lending staff obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications, track renewal deadlines, coordinate with licensing authorities, and maintain accurate certification records.
- Coordinate and facilitate vendor-delivered lending training in partnership with external providers such as SWBC. Serve as the primary liaison with training vendors to schedule sessions, ensure content relevance, and evaluate program effectiveness. Track attendance and post-training outcomes.
- Conduct Business Account Training for the Commercial Services team. Collaborate with Commercial Services leadership to identify training needs, develop targeted curriculum, and deliver training sessions covering business account products, services, and processes.
- Work in conjunction with the Training and Development Manager in maintaining the Learning Management System (BAI) by updating training records, registering staff for training, updating staff profiles, and producing ad hoc training reports.
- Serve as backup to the Senior Training Specialist for new hire Branch Operations-related training as needed. Step in to facilitate branch-level onboarding and operational training sessions to ensure continuity during periods of high demand, staff transitions, or increased new hire volume. Additionally, provide backup support for general Branch Operations training as needed.
- Assist with Member Services training as needed. Support the delivery of Member Services training content to ensure consistent service standards and product knowledge across branch staff.
- Conduct On Demand Training in branches on lending-specific topics as needed. Respond to branch and department requests for targeted, just-in-time training on lending products, systems, procedures, or regulatory topics. Travel to branches to deliver in-person training as required.

Qualifications:
- (1) A two-year college degree; or (2) completion of specialized lending certification or licensing; or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors; or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program or equivalent professional experience.
- Two to four years of experience in a lending environment within a credit union or financial institution, with at least one year of demonstrated training, coaching, or instructional experience. Familiarity with lending systems such as Meridianlink DL4 is strongly preferred. Experience with Member Services or Branch Operations training is a plus.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with a genuine passion for helping others succeed. Working knowledge of credit life and accident and health insurance licensing requirements. Experience coordinating with training vendors. Advanced skills with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Must be flexible and willing to travel locally to branches to deliver On Demand Training. Overnight travel may occasionally be necessary.
