Painter

POSITION SUMMARY
The Painter is responsible for carrying out painting, finishing, and surface maintenance work throughout the property to ensure facilities remain visually appealing, well maintained, and in excellent condition. The role supports the Engineering Department by preparing surfaces, applying paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures while maintaining quality workmanship and supporting an exceptional guest experience.
This role has 2 vacancies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Painting & Maintenance
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, stripping, cleaning, and applying primers or sealers.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Remove old finishes and repair minor surface imperfections prior to painting.
- Support preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and renovation projects across the property.
- Ensure high-quality finishing work in accordance with company standards.
II. Work Orders & Inventory
- Respond to painting and maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
- Manage painting materials, tools, and equipment efficiently.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding paint colors, finishes, and materials when required.
- Maintain clean storage areas and ensure proper handling of painting supplies.
III. Guest Service & Teamwork
- Maintain positive relationships with guests and associates.
- Protect surrounding areas during painting activities and minimize disruption to hotel operations.
- Support Engineering and other departments to achieve operational objectives.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas before, during, and after completion of work.
IV. Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety, security, and maintenance procedures.
- Report hazards, accidents, and equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of painting tools, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with company standards.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification in Painting, Building Maintenance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in painting, decorating, or building maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, coatings, stains, varnishes, and finishing work.
- Experience in hospitality, commercial, or facilities maintenance environments is advantageous.
- Ability to safely operate painting tools and equipment.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Must have working rights in Fiji.
