Registered Nurse (RN) - F/T Days

12-hour shifts (includes applicable weekend & shift differentials).

Base Pay $42.00 - $74.95 / hour DOE

Description:

Primary Focus:

Provides personal individualized care to emergent, acute, swing bed & long-term swing bed patients in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe quality care in a unionized hospital.


Essential Functions:

  • Obtains nursing history that is comprehensive of present condition and performs basic physical assessment, indicating knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Collects data in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the biophysical, psychosocial, self-care, health maintenance, discharge planning and environmental needs of the patient.
  • Supports, promotes, and follows department and facility policies, procedures, goals, and standards of care.
  • Functions as a clinical resource to address patient/family education needs.
  • Identifies emergent situations and responds appropriately.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and demonstrates a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the Health Care Provider.
  • Initiates/maintains plan of care based on established priorities, essential needs and available resources. Assess on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of intervention and revises the plan of care as needed.
  • Performs competently those technical skills considered basic to the scope of service. (IV therapy, treatments, catheter insertion, NG insertion. CPR, etc.).
  • Decisions and performance reflect knowledge of facts, evidence-based research and best practices, diseases, injuries, care      required and standard of care for the specific population on the unit.
  • Knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration, based on the age of the patient and their clinical      condition. (Start IV fluids & medications).
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring; can identify arrhythmias.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating essential equipment on all units and completes annual proficiency skills reviews.
  • Draws, processes, results laboratory tests, performs QC when lab personnel not available. Complete annual laboratory      competency.
  • Arranges for ambulance services or other emergency transports as required.
  • Responsible for ER triage, admit, initial assessments, ongoing assessments, documentation and discharge with-in scope of practice.
  • Ensures ER cleaned after use and replaces necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge and skills appropriate for all nursing units (North Wing, West Wing, ER, and Outpatient Services) and competent      ability to work in all nursing units of OMHC.
  • Works collaboratively with peer and team members, using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially      sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (admitting, appropriate documentation required for each patient type, physician      orders, and discharge).
  • Employee is aware of and actively promotes facility goal relative to practicing antimicrobial stewardship and prevention of      antimicrobial overuse.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services, projects or committees as assigned or requested.
  • Follows up with appropriate staff, patients or other individuals regarding reported incidents, complaints, problems, and      concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Certification

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse (RN). 
  • Current BLS upon hire and for duration of employment
  • Current ACLS and PALS certification upon hire or within 3 months of hire
  • Current TNCC training and certification upon hire or within 1 year of hire
