Position Title: Advanced Practice Provider – Shoulder & Elbow 

Full Time: Minimum of 40 hours per week, combination of clinic and surgery

Summary 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our orthopedic shoulder and elbow team with physician, Dr. David Schneider.  Dr. Schneider’s practice specializes in total shoulder arthroplasty and sports shoulder pathology, along with complex elbow care including ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction (“Tommy John” surgery) and total elbow arthroplasty.  His practice is transitioning to a concierge clinic focus, offering patients a personalized, high-touch care experience. This role will join as the second Advanced Practice Provider on the team, working closely with Dr. Schneider and his current PA to manage a high-volume, active patient population with an emphasis on shoulder and elbow pathology. This is a full-time position, covering a mix of clinic and assisting in the operating room 2-3 days per week. Clinics will be based out of our PURE office in Greenwood Village, with potential clinic coverage at our Golden main campus. Surgeries will be performed primarily at OrthoColorado Hospital and Orchard Park Surgery Center. The right person for this role will be a true partner with the physician and will be open and willing to learn techniques, styles, and preferences that benefit the physician team. 

The position is responsible for providing care within the clinical, surgical and hospital setting for shoulder, elbow, and sports medicine patients treated by Panorama Orthopedics.  This role will primarily be Monday through Friday a mix of clinic and surgery in a busy elective surgical practice, weekend rounds and occasional call coverage are required (a nominal stipend is offered). 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams; evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients in the outpatient clinic setting. 
  • Provide perioperative care, including pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up, and evaluate changes in patient conditions. 
  • Provide surgical first assistant coverage in the operating room across multiple orthopedic subspecialties, including cross-training to assist with total joint arthroplasty coverage as needed. Excellent suturing skills are a must. 
  • Perform in-office procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, ultrasound-guided interventions (if trained), and wound care. 
  • Participate in inpatient rounds and consults as needed. 
  • Issue orders for medications, treatments, and lab tests, with proficiency in reading basic and advanced imaging (x-rays, MRIs, CTs). 
  • Complete H&Ps, discharge summaries, consents, and prescriptions in a timely manner, documenting all patient care actions in the EMR timely and accurately. 
  • Collaborate closely with Dr. Schneider, his care team, and multidisciplinary partners to ensure a seamless, high-touch patient experience. 
  • Perform additional duties as required based on practice needs. 

Education, Licensure and/or Experience Required 

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. 
  • Active licensure in the State of Colorado Required. 
  • Active DEA license to prescribe. 
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous Orthopedics experience is preferred. 
  • Advanced Practice Nurses – MUST have active RNFA certification to be considered. 

Schedule and Expectations 

  • Full-time role with a mix of OR and clinic days 
  • Weekend rounds at times (nominal stipend provided) 
  • Limited call (nominal stipend provided) 

 Pay Information: $106k to $160k/annually, depending on years of experience.
