About the Role

Description

OGD Overhead Garage Door is a growing, multi-brand commercial and residential garage door company that is changing the way garage door companies do business. With our training facility in Fort Worth, TX — and our dedication to growth and innovation — OGD has been named one of the best companies to work for across the country. For over a decade, we’ve delivered superior service to residential and commercial customers nationwide.

Position Overview:

You’ve spent years in bucket trucks, crawling docks, and troubleshooting rollups in 100-degree heat and freezing rain. You know a bad limit switch by sound. You can diagnose a leveler problem over the phone before the tech onsite finishes describing it.

Your body is telling you it’s time for something different. Your knowledge is too valuable to walk away from.

This role lets you keep doing the thing you’re great at — solving hard commercial door problems — without ever climbing another ladder, standing in a parking lot in July, or lifting another torsion spring.

As a Technical Support Specialist, you’ll be the voice on the other end of the phone (or video call) when a field technician runs into something tricky on a commercial door, rollup, leveler, or dock system.

Responsibilities:

  • Take incoming calls and chat requests from field technicians who are stuck on a job
  • Walk techs through diagnosis and repair in real time, using live video to see exactly what they’re seeing
  • Draw on your own field experience to identify root causes fast — electrical, mechanical, or structural
  • Help techs think through commercial door, rollup, dock leveler, and dock equipment issues they haven’t seen before
  • Document recurring issues and help build out internal troubleshooting resources
  • Be a mentor voice for less experienced techs, without ever leaving your desk
  • Other job duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Years of hands-on experience installing and servicing commercial overhead doors, rollups, dock levelers, and dock equipment — this is non-negotiable; we need someone who has done the work
  • The ability to visualize a problem from a description or a video feed and talk someone through a fix step by step
  • Patience and clear communication — you’ll be coaching people who are standing in front of the problem while you’re not
  • Comfort with phones, video calls, and basic tech tools (training provided)
  • A desire to stay in the trade you know, just from a chair instead of a truck

Why This Role Is Different:

  • Indoors, every day. No weather, no climbing, no lifting.
  • Your field years count as your qualification — this isn’t an entry-level dispatch job; it’s a role built around senior-level trade knowledge.
  • Predictable schedule compared to field service work.
  • A second act for your career — stay connected to the trade, mentor the next generation of techs, and let your knowledge keep paying off long after the physical part of the job stops being realistic.

Work Location:

  • Office-based role in Fort Worth, TX. No field travel required.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM availability

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Full Benefits Package – Medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), Vacation, and Sick Time
  • A clear path to be the go-to expert other technicians rely on
  • Stability of an office-based role within a growing multi-brand company
