JOB SUMMARY: The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides high-quality, patient-centered mental health care, focusing on prevention and treatment of mental health disorders. The PMHNP diagnoses, treats, and manages patients' psychiatric needs. They prescribe medications and refer patients to additional services as needed. The PMHNP participates in Peer Review and Quality Improvement meetings to enhance clinic services and ensure patient needs are prioritized.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental health assessments, diagnostic interviews, and physical exams.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient’s mental health needs.
  • Prescribe medications and manage psychiatric treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality requirements.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Refers patients to community resources or specialists when appropriate.
  • Adheres to company policies and CDC guidelines related to infection control.
  • Upholds strict HIPAA compliance protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Uphold Complies with HIPAA and protects patient information.
  • The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) ensures compliance with all 19 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements.
  • The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts emphasizing the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient’s needs first 

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Active Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license in Nevada.
  • National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Active BLS certification - required


Education:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Successful completion of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited program or school -required

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Frequent sitting. Manual dexterity. Good reading eyesight and vision for close work. Ability to communicate by speaking and hearing in person or on the phone. Ability to travel to various locations.
