About the Role

Overview

D365 Implementation Specialist (Finance)

Milton Keynes, UK (Hybrid)

UK work authorisation required — visa sponsorship not available

You know D365 F&O Finance the way a can of WD-40 knows friction — not just where it shows up, but what’s causing it underneath, and exactly what it takes to get things moving again. You’ve configured it, stress-tested it, and handed it over to finance teams who actually rely on it every day. If that’s you, WD-40 Company has a role that’s worth your attention.

The Role

WD-40 Company has completed significant D365 F&O rollouts across multiple global markets — UK, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific — and is operating a live global Finance environment that spans those markets every day. This role is about making that environment better. You’ll own the Finance enhancements backlog, resolve configuration issues that surface in production, and assess and deliver new D365 Finance functionality as Microsoft continues to evolve the platform.

You’ll work as a genuine partner to our Finance Business Process Lead — they define what the business needs, you make D365 deliver it. That means triaging enhancement requests, diagnosing configuration issues, translating Finance requirements into scalable D365 solutions, and keeping global finance teams productive and confident in the system they rely on.

The global D365 environment spans multiple markets, each with its own tax treatment, regulatory requirements, and operational nuances. Keeping that environment consistent, compliant, and improving across those markets is the day-to-day reality of this role. Future implementation work across new markets is planned as the programme evolves — but right now, the priority is the backlog and the live environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Finance enhancements backlog — triage incoming requests, assess configuration impact, prioritise with the Finance Business Process Lead, build and test solutions, and close them out cleanly.
  • Diagnose and resolve Finance configuration issues surfacing in the live global D365 environment — GL, AP/AR, financial dimensions, posting profiles, period close, tax, integrations.
  • Partner with the Finance Business Process Lead to translate business requirements into D365 Finance configurations. You own the how; they own the what.
  • Assess new D365 Finance functionality released in Microsoft updates — evaluate relevance to WD-40’s environment, test in non-production, and recommend adoption where it adds value.
  • Configure and validate Finance modules — GL, financial dimensions, AP/AR, period close, reporting structures, and related integrations — for enhancements and fixes across global markets.
  • Maintain and improve Finance configurations across global markets — localization, tax treatment, and regulatory compliance are ongoing responsibilities in a live multi-country environment.
  • Work with the enterprise architect and technical teams on integration design and standards where enhancements touch system boundaries.
  • Contribute to agile planning cycles — keep your workstream visible, documented, and on track.
  • Support future implementation phases as the global programme evolves — your knowledge of the live environment will be a genuine asset when new markets come online.

Qualifications

  • Deep, hands-on D365 F&O Finance configuration experience — in a live global environment, not just a greenfield build. You know how to diagnose what’s wrong and how to improve what’s already running. 5+ years.
  • Proven capability across multiple Finance modules: GL, financial dimensions, posting profiles, AP/AR, period close, financial reporting. You know where the complexity hides and how to fix it without breaking something else.
  • Multi-country D365 Finance experience — you understand that maintaining a live global environment consistently and compliantly across markets with different tax schemes and regulatory requirements is an ongoing discipline, not a one-time setup.
  • Experience working alongside Business Process Leads or functional counterparts — you’re comfortable in the partnership model and can hold the technical lane without overreaching into process decisions.
  • Familiarity with OTC processes and where they connect to Finance in D365 is a genuine plus. The boundary between AR configuration and OTC transaction flow gets fuzzy in a live environment, and you should not be surprised when it does.
  • Strong documentation and communication habits — you’re working with finance stakeholders who need to trust your configuration decisions, and with a BPL who needs to understand what you’ve changed and why.
  • Experience with Microsoft’s release cadence and D365 update management — you understand that the platform evolves twice a year and staying ahead of that is part of the job.
