About the Role
 
Join Our Team as a Housekeeping Associate at HI Santa Monica Hostel! 

 

Would you love to interact with travelers from all around the world and ensure they have a clean and welcoming environment? Join Hostelling International USA at our vibrant Santa Monica hostel. We are currently accepting applications for a full time Housekeeping Associate who will play a crucial role in maintaining the clean and welcoming atmosphere of our facility. 

  

Position Details: 

  

Pay: $19.80 per hour 

Type: Full Time, benefit eligible

Role Objectives & Responsibilities:

- Clean and prepare guest rooms, dorms, and bathrooms

- Mop, vacuum, and sweep hostel grounds daily

- Perform laundry room functions, including washing, sorting, folding, and stocking

- Change and wash bed linens, bedspreads, blankets, and towels

- Wash and put away kitchen dishes and utensils

- Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and tubs/showers; restock soap and toilet paper as needed

- Wash windows and window coverings

- Dust countertops, dresser tops, furniture, paintings, and door jambs

- Empty trash cans and recycling daily

- Report broken items to management

- Ensure all unnecessary lights are turned off

- Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies

- Assist with light maintenance, kitchen maintenance, and groundskeeping as required  

 

Skills/Qualifications: 

 

- Minimum six months of hostel or hotel housekeeping required

- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team

- Customer service experience is a plus

- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to multi-task

- Must be willing to work evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays as required

 

Physical Requirements:  

- Regularly required to sit, use hands and arms  

- Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear  

- Occasionally required to climb or balance  

- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds  

- Specific vision abilities required: close, peripheral, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus  

- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
