About The Company
Founded by Matt Ross in September of 2012 “one river” west of New York City, One River School of Art + Design has embarked on a mission to transform art education in America. Today, our innovative program teaches thousands of students in 14 schools across 6 states with many more openings on the horizon. One River School has developed a proprietary method for teaching art and digital design programs to students of all ages in a state of the art facility. Our process allows students to have more fun, make inspiring artwork, develop new friendships and grow their art making skills along the way. Our exhibition program has become a national taste-maker for emerging artists across the country. We present the most current, and compelling artworks in our school galleries. Inevitably, our exhibition series supports working artists and our mission to create more awareness for contemporary art. Our expansion creates numerous opportunities for communities across America through our unique franchise program, and the compelling career opportunities we are creating in the arts.
About the Role
Contemporary Art Teacher - Off-site programs

One River School of Art + Design - Central and Northern, NJ
$25–$30 per hour

At One River School, we believe children are capable of real artistic thinking. We’re looking for practicing artists and passionate educators who want to introduce young creators (Grades K-12) to contemporary art in ways that feel exciting, meaningful, and wildly engaging.

If you love the energy of a studio, believe process matters as much as product, and want to help students see themselves as artists from day one—this could be your space.

What You’ll Do

Lead dynamic, hands-on weekly art classes for students at various sites in Central and Northern NJ (Weekday Afternoons and Evenings)
Explore contemporary approaches across painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and 3D work
Encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking, and big imaginative thinking
Create “WOW moments” that build confidence and artistic voice
Connect thoughtfully with families about student growth and creative breakthroughs

This isn’t craft-time. It’s real art—made accessible, joyful, and inspiring.
