Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician for a full-time opportunity based in Des Moines, Iowa. This position is designed for a highly skilled commercial or industrial HVAC technician with strong hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning complex HVAC systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior HVAC Service Technician will service a diverse range of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including hot water systems, DX systems, chillers, cooling towers, VRV/VRF systems, VFDs, refrigeration equipment, fan systems, and low-voltage controls.

This is a highly independent field-service role covering a regional territory. The technician will perform diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment start-ups, inspections, and commissioning while also providing technical guidance to customers and team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems
• Service hot water systems, DX systems, chillers, cooling towers, fan systems, and refrigeration equipment
• Diagnose and service VRV/VRF systems and related equipment
• Troubleshoot VFDs and low-voltage HVAC controls
• Perform equipment inspections, start-ups, and commissioning
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance
• Diagnose complex HVAC issues independently and determine appropriate corrective actions
• Perform refrigerant service and handling in accordance with EPA requirements
• Perform electrical diagnostics related to HVAC equipment and controls
• Support HVAC installation, maintenance, and system-service activities
• Provide technical training and support to customers and team members
• Maintain accurate service records using company-provided laptop and mobile systems
• Identify opportunities for additional services and customer solutions
• Travel throughout the assigned regional service territory as required
• Work independently while supporting the growth and technical capabilities of the service team

SERVICE TERRITORY

The position is based in Des Moines, Iowa, with regional coverage that may include Dubuque, Waterloo, Burlington, Grinnell, eastern Iowa, western Illinois, and areas extending from Missouri to Minnesota. Travel is generally minimal, with overnight stays only when necessary. The first year may involve additional driving while establishing the assigned territory.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 Years of Hands-On HVAC Experience REQUIRED
• Commercial and/or Industrial HVAC Service Experience REQUIRED
• Hands-On Hot Water System Experience REQUIRED
• Hands-On DX System Experience REQUIRED
• Hands-On Chiller Experience REQUIRED
• VRV/VRF System Experience REQUIRED
• Low-Voltage HVAC Controls Experience REQUIRED
• Valid HVAC License REQUIRED
• EPA Certification REQUIRED
• HVAC Diagnosis, Troubleshooting, Repair, and Maintenance Experience REQUIRED
• Strong Independent Problem-Solving and Diagnostic Skills REQUIRED
• Valid Driver's License REQUIRED
• High School Diploma or Equivalent REQUIRED
• Ability to Lift Up to 75 Pounds REQUIRED
• Ability to Work in Confined and Elevated Spaces REQUIRED
• Ability to Travel Throughout the Assigned Regional Territory REQUIRED
• Strong Communication and Customer-Service Skills REQUIRED
• Daikin Equipment / Manufacturer Training Preferred
• VFD Experience Preferred
• Industrial Refrigeration Experience Preferred
• Technical HVAC Training or Additional Certifications Preferred
• Experience in Large-Scale Commercial or Industrial Facilities Preferred
