In this critical role, you will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and facility systems. What You'll Do
As a Maintenance Electrician, you will be responsible for supporting plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including motors, VFDs, control panels, and power distribution equipment.
- Install and maintain electrical systems in accordance with NEC requirements and site safety standards.
- Diagnose electrical failures and complete repairs to reduce production interruptions.
- Maintain and update electrical maintenance records and documentation.
- Assist with instrumentation troubleshooting, control loop checks, and electrical testing.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
Mechanical & Facility Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Conduct basic mechanical repairs on pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, and related equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain facility infrastructure and address building maintenance needs in a timely manner.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all electrical safety procedures, plant policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in safety training, drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all times.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with maintenance personnel, production teams, and management to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively to minimize disruption to plant operations.
- Support and mentor junior maintenance technicians as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing, process plant, or heavy industrial environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Basic mechanical repair experience and aptitude.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully pass required drug screening.
Strong experience working with:
- 480V electrical systems
- PLCs
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Control wiring and industrial controls
Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- P&IDs
- Technical manuals and drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or Associate Degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance or a related field.
- Experience in chemical manufacturing or process industry operations.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and process control systems.
Working Conditions
This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to:
- Chemicals, fumes, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
- Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, overtime, and PTO coverage to support 24/7 operations.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and platforms, including heights up to 140 feet.
- Working in confined spaces and challenging physical positions.
- Standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks throughout extended shifts.
- Lifting and carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Wearing required PPE, including respirators, hearing protection, safety harnesses, and fall protection equipment when necessary.
- Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position and maintain constant awareness of workplace hazards while following all established safety procedures.
