We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Referral Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure smooth and efficient referral processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and process patient referrals to specialists, laboratories, and other healthcare providers
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for referrals
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to facilitate timely appointments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Follow up on pending referrals to ensure completion and address any issues that arise
- Educate patients about referral procedures and assist with scheduling and documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care transitions
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare-related certifications are a plus
- Proven experience in patient coordination, medical office administration, or related roles
- Strong knowledge of insurance processes, authorization procedures, and healthcare regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
