We are looking for a new adjunct colleague to join our UE Business Department in Hamburg/Germanystarting this winter semester 2026/7, who shares our vision of excellence in education and who is committed

An external freelance lecturer for Mathematics for Foundation Class (m, f, d)
The teaching load comprises 3 SWS (Teaching units, each unit being 45 min.).

To become a freelance lecturer at a university of applied sciences sharing your knowledge and passion with
students from all over the world
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
- Implementation of the course (teaching language: English), in particular:
BASIC OPERATIONS: Exponents, Polynomials, Factoring, Fractions, Radicals, Order of operations
EQUATIONS: Coordinate system, Linear equations, Slopes, Intercepts, The slope-intercept form, Determining
the slope the y-intercept and x-intercept, Determining the equation of a straight line, Applications of linear
equations in economics and/or business, Solving Linear Equations; FUNCTIONS: Graphing a function, The
Algebra of Functions, Solving Quadratic Equations, Facilitating nonlinear Graphing; SYSTEMS of EQUATIONS:
Graphical Solution of 2x2 linear system, Elimination and Substitution Methods; LINEAR (or MATRIX) ALGEBRA:
Definitions and terms, Addition and Subtraction of Matrices, Scalar Multiplication, Vector Multiplication,
Multiplication of Matrices, Matrix Expression of a System of Linear Equations, Augmented Matrix, Row
operations, Gaussian Method of Solving Linear Equations; LOGIC of PROPOSITIONS: Propositions and
Connectives, Truth Tables, Logical Implications and Equivalences; SETS: Venn Diagrams and Set Operations,
Basic counting principles, Addition Principle, Multiplication Principle, Permutations and Combinations; SAMPLE
SPACES, EVENTS and PROBABILITY: Probability of an Event, Union, Intersection, and Complement of events,
Applications to Empirical Probability, Conditional Probability, Intersection of Events: Product Rule, Probability
Trees, Random Variable and Probability Distribution, Expected Value of a Random Variable; STATISTICS: THE
FIRST STEPS in DATA ANALYSIS: Statistical Unit, Population, Sample, Variable, Attribute, Value, Frequency
Distribution: Notation and Conventions, Absolute and Relative Frequency, Cumulative Distribution, Frequency
Distribution: Table, Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Stem-and-Leaf-Diagram, Box-Plots, Location of Parameters: The
Mode, Arithmetic Mean, The Median and Quartiles, Measures of Dispersion, Range, Inter Quartile Range, IQR,
Skewness, Deviations from the mean, Variance and Standard Deviation
Coefficient of Variation, Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD), Descriptive Statistics using Microsoft Excel,
Applications of descriptive statistics
The primary aim of Foundation Mathematics is to consolidate and develop mathematical skills for future
research in all fields.

Your profile
- Relevant professional experience
- Place of living in or near Hamburg/Germany (Teaching to take place on-site, primarily)
- Completed relevant university studies
- Teaching experience at universities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Organizational skills and willingness to work hard
