Position Overview: The Senior Associate - Trust & Estate is responsible for supporting the Senior Advisor - Trust & Estate in serving Family Office clients with excellence by providing technical expertise in estate, gift, trust and charitable planning. This role will serve as a technical authority on sophisticated estate, trust, and wealth transfer strategies, partnering closely with Family Office Advisors, attorneys, and tax professionals. Assists with the development of educational materials for various estate, trust and charitable planning strategies.

Principal Accountabilities:
Client & Advisor Support
- Collaborate with Family Office Advisors on client strategy design and case consultation
- Assist and/or participate in client meetings as a technical specialist to explain planning strategies in a clear, client-friendly manner
- Prepare complex estate planning diagrams in Luminary based on the legal documents and client’s financial information.
- Review client balance sheets, estate documents, and existing structures to identify optimization opportunities.
- Understands and supports the counsel and biblical basis upon which Blue Trust serves its client base.
- Approaches work, interactions and relationships in a manner consistent with the Company’s Core Values.
- Maintains the highest Compliance standards by adhering to the company's Human Resources guidelines, Compliance policies and procedures, professional designation standards, and industry's regulatory standards to mitigate risk to the company.
Planning Strategy Development
- Evaluate existing estate plan and trust structures and recommend enhancements or restructuring
- Design customized estate, trust and charitable planning strategies aligned with client goals, such as:
- Business succession planning
- Recap, gifts, installment sales
- Multigenerational wealth transfer and design
- FLPs/LLCs, GRATs, IDGTs, QPRTs, Installment Sales
- Charitable planning strategies and design
- CRTs, CLTs, DAF/PF
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Business succession planning
- Assist Family Office Advisor with design, analysis and implementation of wealth transfer and charitable strategies
- Partner with internal teams (investment, tax, legal, insurance) to deliver integrated wealth transfer solutions
- Coordinate with external professionals (attorneys, CPAs, trustees) on design and implementation of strategies
Education & Thought Leadership
- Provide education to Family Office Advisors and Family Office Planners on estate, trust and charitable planning opportunities and emerging strategies
- Develop white papers, presentations, and planning materials for UHNW clients
- Monitor legislative changes and communicate implications proactively

- Proficient in using Brentmark Estate & Charitable Planner, Luminary, Bloomberg Industry Group (BNA Portfolios), and other resources.
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Pre-Law, or related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in estate, trust, and charitable planning
- Strong technical knowledge of estate and gift tax laws, trust structures, wealth transfer and charitable planning strategies
- Experience working with UHNW clients
Preferred Certifications (one or more):
- Certified Estate Planner (CEP)
- CPA (with estate/tax focus)
- Juris Doctor (with estate/tax focus)
